Yahoo has some known problems on password verifications. Many users that
put the correct password, were not able to login and when they tried to
reset it, yahoo did not accept it.
I am not sure if your case is the same, but if it is, hang on until yahoo fixes the issue.

clicking "I cannot access my account", then "forgot my password", then
you give your yahoo ID and write the digits from the captcha.

When you try logging in and made error for a few times in yahoo mail, it will ask you to enter a captcha code. Maybe you didn't notice that captcha form. Sometimes, try using your whole email address ([email protected]) instead of just the username (xyz). If that doesn't work, make sure you are entering the correct password (Caps Lock makes for a big headache).
Just go to http://login.yahoo.com or http://www.yahoo.com/r/m6 type your ID and Password correctly in the box. then click Sign In ...the same page will open again but will ask you to put the captcha word along with the USER ID and Password. provide all that as need. click Sign In again now... you are done/unlocked.
Just type http://edit.yahoo.com/forgot on your browser, select the option My password doesn't work or I forgot my password.click next and type your ID correctly along with the captcha code in the boxes. On next step it will ask you to type the Alternate e-mail address ...if you provide it correctly you will receive a password resetting mail ....through that you can reset the password easily. if you don't have/know the alternate e-mail address just choose the option I can't access above. click Next.. it will ask you the answer for Secret Question just provide the info correctly here. You will be done.
I am not clear about your issue.... But I can suggest you how to change the SQ and answer.
Reset your ID's password through alternate email address by going http://edit.yahoo.com/forgot
select I forgot my pasword or My password doesn't work , click Next ,in the next page type your Yahoo ID correctly and as well as Captcha verification code correctly (as shown in the image box)...click next....the new page will ask you to type your Alternate email address....type it correctly and click next.....it will show you a confirmation that the Password resetting mail sent to your alternate address...open that email and check the mail for password reset purpose..... if you receive the mail...open and click on reset my password. that will redirect you to new password window.... Type the password here....click next ...in the next page bottom it will be showing you the Secret Question's...check right side there is a button Change....click on it put new SQ and Answers. ..
I think u can remember the alternate email address that you provided during registration..
Go to http://edit.yahoo.com/forgot and select My password doesn't work or I forgot my password....on next screen type your Yahoo! ID and captcha code correctly....on next screen it will ask you to type the alternate email address. there will be short hints appearing on right side of the box while clicking or putting cursor on that box....type your address correctly and click next ,if your address is correct there will be a confirmation message...now open that email account and click the mail received from yahoo for Password resetting purpose .....click on Reset my password.....here you are done... Too many login tries with wrong password on same ID causes lock on Yahoo! ID. This is a security providing by yahoo to save users account to save it from cracking.To unlock an ID, you need to open your browser and type http://login.yahoo.com or http://www.yahoo.com/r/m6, put your login information (Yahoo! ID and Password) click on Sing In, on reply the same login page will open, but it will ask you to verify captcha code as well.. now type your ID and password correctly as well the captcha code as showing in the image (For password check out the caps lock is on/off ) and press Sign In...if your login info is correct I think you are done....Thanks for joining Fixya....Good Luck
go to http://www.yahoo.com/r/m6 put your yahoo ID and password correctly...then click sign in , if the page asks again to login put ID, Password as well as captcha varification code correctly displeyed in image box. after login now try login with yahoo messenger....best of luck
