Connect an external monitor to see if you have video. If you do then you may have a bad screen. Is there any visible damage to the screen? Does it flicker when you first turn it on?

REMOVE THE BATTERY AND TURN OFF THE PC AND POWER LID OFF AND HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON FOR 30 SECONDS AND TRY IF NOT REMOVE THE BACK OF UR LAPTOP AND REMOVE ONE AT A TIME OF MEMORY SLOT AND SEE IF NOT AND U NEED REPLACING THE SCREEN SORRY MATE
1. Connect the laptop to an external monitor and turn on the laptop. If it powers on then the laptop is OK and your LCD screen has gone bad.
2. If nothing happens then there might be an issue with the power supply. remove the battery and plug only power into the laptop and try turning it on, if it works then you need a new battery if not then there might be an issue with the power supply.
Tyr to power drain the computer, removed the battery and the unplugged the charger the press and hold the power button for one minute, obviously it will not turn on. Then after one minute, connect the laptop directly to the power outlet and then turn it on, if its still the same, theres a possibility that the problem is with the MOBO or the LCD itself
If you shine a flashlight at the screen and look it from an angle and can see your displayed screen faintly then the inverter board is bad and it needs to be replaced.
You can hook up an external monitor to your laptop in the meantime to use your system.
There is also the posibility your screen is no good. I'm thinking it will be the inverter board though.
Oh dear that's the worst thing that can happen during a bios update. the bios chip is probably now useless rendering the laptop useless. You will need a new motherboard I am afraid to say.
try to press and hold Fn and F8 - this is to toggle screen setting to ext and back to LCD on laptop. if nothing happens turn off computer by pressing power button, unplug the ac adapter, remove the battery. remvoe residual electricity from computer by pressing power button 10 times. just plug again the ac and leave the battery out. Pres and hold the letter D and while holding that press the power button once and release both of them. it will perform the built in self test on the lcd. if nothing happens, turn off computer. press anf hold Fn and while holding it press power button. it will perform diagnosis on computer. if still nothing happens need to repalce motherboard and LCD.
Remove the battery and power cable from the system and press the power button for about 5 seconds, then plug in the charger and start the laptop. it will work. shutdown it and put the battery back and start once again . now you can see its working
Try connecting it to an external monitor.
When you do, as soon as you press the power button to turn on the laptop, close the laptop lid - as this forces the laptop to display on an external monitor.
If this works, then it means the laptop screen is bad.
If it doesn't, the most likely cause would be that the laptop video card went bad.
For a while, some older Dell laptops with high-end nVidia graphics cards tended to die suddenly.
