Not to be overlooked is the freezer temperature. Icemakers have a built in thermostat that will cycle the ice maker through its paces when the freezer temp hits 10 degrees or below. If the freezer temp does not go down to that point no ice maker will work.

When freezer temps do not go down to where they are supposed to, the anomaly could lie with the auto defrost mechanism, bad thermostat, low refrigerant.

An ice maker has 3 basic tasks:
1. Call for water.
2. Freeze.
3. Harvest.
Then the cycle repeats. There will always be some sensors that determine timing of those tasks. Home units usually have a bin level sensor (often an arm that's lifted as the bin fills) that can be locked in the up position to disable the ice maker.

If it's calling for water but not freezing, make sure the condenser is clean. (Sometimes they look clean but are plugged in the middle.) It has to get down to nearly 0 degrees to efficiently make ice, if it's not getting cold enough you may need a tech to figure out why.

If there's ice in the tray but it's not harvesting, clean the tray, hard water deposits can make the cubes stick in the tray.

Is the freezer freezing the food rock solid? Most ice makers require the freezer to reach a certain temp before it will make ice. What is the model number of your unit?

We have a side by side whirlpool ice/water though the door water yes,but no ice production model number ED5SHAXMB10

Is the freezer cold enough? Should be close to 10 degrees.
Is there water or ice in the ice mold? If not put water in it and see if it dumps the ice after it's frozen. If there is ice, lift the cut off arm and let it drop to see if it will start.
If it does dump the ice but don't refill with water.
ICE MAKER NOT GETTING WATER
Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. It's on the back where the water supply comes in. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

WATER FREEZING IN ICE MAKER

check 2 things. Make sure the fill tube is going downwards to the cup inside. The second thing is when the valve shuts off make sure it closes right away. If it doesnt then replace the valve.

The ice maker doesnt work, and in the day several times appears water in the floor, in the side of the door of the ice maker

Uplug refrigerator and remove the ice maker so we can look at the tube that comes into the back of the ice maker. It maybe the ice maker is calling for water but ice or a crack in the tube that delivers the water is being deverted to inside the freezer area. Also look behind the fresh food compartment door and see if you can send me the model number so I will be able to go over the correct model. Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

The ice maker on our GE refrigerator does not make ice

1 -Ice maker arm must be down(on position)2-Make sure the water supply line is connected to the fridge3Check if the ice maker is plugged in4The freezer must be working fine for the ice maker to produce ice. After the ice maker stars and calls for water and doesn't get any , the water valve is bad.And if everything above is ok the ice maker needs to be replaced.

Maytag ice maker

ok first the dispencer doesnt affect ice production in any way onle diapencing so for get it the most common promblems will be the filter or the water valves on the back of the unit water and ice are on two different valves so because one works dont mean the other does also check the icemaker fill tube to see if its frozen a leaking icemaker water valve will cause it to freeze im also going to send you the procedure for checking the icemakermoudle its self do this after checking everything else remove the front plastic cover on the icemaker and you will see a bunch of little holes make a jumper wire out #10 or 12 house wire strip about 1/4 inch off the ends an insert in the holes marked t&h this will start a test cycle make sure you hold the plastic insulation so you don't get bit if the ice maker starts cycling remove the wire and watch for it to stop listen for the icemaker valve to open if the ice maker finishes and the valve didn’t fill replace the water valves if the icemaker doesnt cycle and you may have to kind of twist the jumper back and forth to get it to make contact depending on the gauge you used then replace the ice maker motor module if you hear the valve open and the ice maker doesnt fill check for a frozen ice fill tube that should do it
