Why is there no green light or red docking showing it is charging?

No charge. Charger appears to be working and docking station also appears to be working. It is just dead.

Sometimes the contacts between the battery and the iRobot get corroded...you can try using a small piece of sandpaper to lightly scuff/clean the battery contacts. Once you put it back together, try the reset function mentioned previously.

SOURCE: My Roomba Discovery doesn't appear to hold a charge

cor2an,
That sounds like a classic battery failure in the Roomba discovery series. There are sensors inside the battery pack that go bad too. Either way...it's not very practical to repair the battery....the best shot you have would be to order a replacement battery. You just pop the old one out and then put the new one in.

They are available from iRobot for $69 at this link: http://store.irobot.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2799714&cp=2804606.3358509&ab=CMS_AccSuper_Roomba400_102308&parentPage=family

There are sources of less expensive (about $35) Genuine iRobot quality batteries also. You could try www.RoboticVacParts.com at this link: http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-iRobot-APS-battery-Roomba-400-4XXX-Discovery_W0QQitemZ270412120603QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ef5d1821b&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262&_trkparms=|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A30

SOURCE: 4210 and 4230 won't charge-new batteries.

I've been having the same problem myself. The charger is apparently built into the roomba main board. From what I've read there are two MOSFETs U2 & U4 that can go out and require replacement to fix the problem. More info here

SOURCE: iRobot 530 charges intermittently

Reset the Roomba: hold down "spot" and "dock/demo" for fifteen seconds, then release and listen for the tune. Then charge the Roomba overnight. The next time you run it, the unit should run longer. If not, call support and let them know you may have a battery problem. 1-877-855-8593 (I strongly encourage you to have the Roomba with you if you call.)

SOURCE: My roomba mounts up to the charger the light

You have dead nimh (nickle metal hydride) batteries. You will need a replacement. You can test for this by removing the battery and holding the power button for 15 seconds. This will restart the charging cycle as if the battery were new.

Inherited from family member who moved away, can't see how the charging cord fits into docking station as it doesn't line up with hole on vacuum body when inserted into docking station.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

All DC59 models were supplied with the docking station design shown below, which sounds as if it's the one you've seen in videos online:

inherited-from-family-member-moved-away-bgnlnjysxqgtkkq3zluwq2tk-4-0.jpg

From your description, it sounds like the docking station you've inherited may belong to an older Dyson cordless vacuum, such as DC35 or DC44. If you're able to call the Dyson Customer Helpline directly, we should be able to help determine exactly which docking station you have, and whether or not it's compatible with your DC59.

You can reach our experts by calling 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) 1800 239 766 (AU), or 0800 298 0298 (UK).

Bad battery most likely. Could be a faulty charger too. Have your local vac shop test it.

Green light on DC44 but nothing is happening

Hi Emma, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear your DC44 Animal doesn't seem to be working correctly. If the green LED indicator on the machine lights up, but the machine itself doesn't run, this suggests the battery is flat. It could mean that it's not recharging correctly when connected to the docking station.

It would be worth temporarily disconnecting and removing the charger cord from the docking station and plugging it directly into the machine - the machine should recharge fully within 3.5 hours. If the machine then works as normal the charger cord may not have been corrected fitted to the docking station.

If you'd like further advice from our experts after you've given this a try, please call the Dyson customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

New battery. Charged for 24 hours. Light is green, but after 20 seconds light turns red and it stops.

There's a chance that the battery you bought is bad. There's a greater chance that the problem is with the charger. If you're using the dock to charge, try plugging the charger directly into the roomba just to rule that out. If that doesn't fix the problem, I would try borrowing or buying a new charger, and see if that works. If a new charger and new battery don't solve the problem, the problem must be with your roomba itself.

I unplugged the docking station and now does not work

I actually had the same issue with mine.. it was 6 years old and just stopped finding the docking station. Also wouldnt take a charge. So I just eliminated the docking station. The stations power cord will charge the unit. Hope this helps.

Help

Same thing happened to me, I called the company, and they told me to remove the battery, press the on button for 5 seconds, which clears the system, replace the battery and do a long charge 12 hours. I'm in the process of doing that now.
