I solved it, apparently because I just reinstalled my OS, my computer wasn't fully recognizing my nvidia 8600. Today it finally did, and I was allowed the option to put my screen at 1440x900. I tried updating it before, but it didnt even recognize the nvidia. Thanks anyways!

My screen was shaky nd i visited a engineer and he changed my laptop screen.I later found out that the nvidia geforce i had been using on the old screen was disabled,i enabled it nd restart my laptop and...

If the screen displays an image it is the right screen. The video card, in this case an nvidia geforce 9300, might be defective in which case it would need to be fixed by dell. But it sounds like it could just be an issue with getting the right drivers. The drivers can be found here:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win7-winvista-270.61-whql-driver.html
for 32bit windows vista,

and here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-270.61-whql-driver.html
for 64bit versions of vista.

If you aren't sure if you have a 32 or 64-bit version you can find out by right clicking on "my computer" and going to properties. It will be listed under system type.

I bought my computer used. no drivers or manuals included. i need a free driver for the lg nvidia 566lm model please.

Most new Monitors don't require software drivers to operate since most are plug and play, but either ways here is the link to download the software which comes with your monitor, http://www.lg.com/global/fortemanager/fortemanager_download.jsp hope this helps, best of luck.

Windows XP Not displaying fully on 1440x900 resolution.

If you have one of those older CRT monitors you should be able to resize the image. Some LCDs have screen shifting tools too. Try doing a full restart, too. (shutting your computer down, waiting 1 or 2 minutes, then starting it up again.)

Resolution 1280x1024 is missing.

Sounds like you have either a generic/basic driver, or none at all.

Reinstall your nvidia drivers, make sure to download the newest from nvidias website. Before you install, go to add/remove programs and remove any nvidia related software, otherwise the new driver installation will do you know good. And for future reference, every time you update your video drivers, you need to uninstall the old ones.
