Hi Thomas, you can find bar oil for the chain at just about any hardware store. Just tell them you need chainsaw bar oil. The oil that mixes with the gasoline is called 2- cycle mix. They will have that also. You can find the 2- cycle mix at a lot of gas stations too but a lot of guys caution not to use the 2 - cycle mix that is made for outboard motors. . Hope that answered your questions.

What type of oil is used for my 2055 2.O CI woodsman chain saw?

This engine is certified to operate on unleaded gasoline. Before operation, gasoline must be mixed with a good quality synthetic
2-cycle air-cooled engine oil designed to be mixed at a ratio of 40:1.Poulan/Weed Eater brand synthetic oil is recommended.Mix
gasoline and oil at a ratio of40:1.A 40:1ratio is obtained by mixing 3.2 ounces of oil with 1 gallon of unleaded gasoline.

As far as bar and chain oil:
Genuine Poulan R bar and chain oil is recommended to protect your unit against excessive wear from heat and friction.Poulan R oil resists high temperature thinning. If Poulan R is not available, use a
good grade SAE30 oil. Never use waste oil for bar and chain lubrication.

Which oil do i use in a ryobi C4620 chainsaw?

Do NOT use lightweight motor oil for that bar! Use only bar/chain oil for it - nearly any brand will do just fine, but it needs to be bar/chain oil. Bar/chain oil is specially formulated to stay on the bar & chain in use - motor oil will fling away & your bar won't get the lubrication it needs.

For fuel mixing, use nearly any brand of 2-cycle oil, which is specially formulated to provide lubrication even when it's mixed into your fuel. Use about 3.2 ounces of 2-cycle oil per every gallon of gasoline - a little more won't hurt (it'll make the saw smoke a little), but never use less. Always shake the gas can just before you refill your saw's tank - shaking helps make sure the oil & gas are well-mixed.

What kind of motor oil is used in the chain saw. what kind of oil is used for the chain.

Hi justariblake...
You did not say if your chain saw was 2 or 4 cycle...

If it is 2 cycle...you will mix 2 cylce oil with gas at a ratio of 50:1...one pint 2 cycle oil per 6 gallons of gasoline.
If it is 4 cycle then you will use 10w30
On the bar and chain you will use bar and chain oil (a special oil made for chain saws)

I lost the owners manual and wondered if i had to add oil to the gasoline

Yes, you do have to add oil to the gasoline. All two-cycle engines must have oil added to the Gasoline, unless they have an oil injector, and chainsaws do not have an oil injector.

While you do not mention the make of your chainsaw, most modern saws use a fifty to one mix.
Older ones typically used a 25 to one mix, and very old ones used a 16 to 1 mix.
A thirty to one mix will work just fine, since you do not have a manual for your saw, and therefore do not know what the particular manufacturer recommends. You may be able to find out
what your saw takes on the Web, or, maybe from wherever you bought your saw.

Just follow the directions found on the bottle of quality Two-Cycle oil, and add the oil to the gas can.
Do NOT add the oil to the saws tank. You must mix the oil/gas first in a can, THEN fill up your saw.

I need to know the oil & gas mix ratio and what weight oil for the mix

On the container of 2 cycle oil you buy, it will have a mixing chart. 50:1 (means 50 parts of gas to 1 part of oil) usually uses around 4 ounces of 2 cycle oil to each gallon of gasoline. The other compartment is for bar & chain oil, that is what lubricates the bar & chain.

Correct mix of gas and oil for Chain Saw

The ratio is 40:1, provided this is a gasoline homelite chainsaw. Find the suitable amount to put into the gas can at a ratio of 3.2 oz per gallon. The bottles that you buy the oil in have marks on them telling you how much there is, and often times, are sized to dump into a preset amount of gas. Put the oil in the can, then put the gas in the can, cap, and shake. Always shake before dispensing.
