See that all cables etc are properly connected and that the scanner has up to date drivers. You may have to go to the Epson site and download them for the correct model.
First, you must purchase a Product Key. Second, I would not trust ANY of the driver updater's. At best it will offer-up drivers that do not apply to your machine, at worst, the software may apply a driver that will cause you "pain and heartache", computer restores/recoveries, hours of needless work trying to recover. Use your Computer's website/updates and Windows Update to keep your computer up-to-date. Occasionally I will use Hardware drivers from the Hardware Manufacturer's website, with varying degrees of success.
You need to take the drive out and put it back in. Try doing a BIOS update if one is available or simply reinstall the Operating System. If this does not work either then you will have to replace the DVD drive.
Aspire seems to have some issues untill all the windows updates catches up. If it will boot and get on the net let it get all of the windows update and see what happens. My wifes aspire had diffrent things stop/start working until all the updates were installed.
my HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4082N has a problem i cant up date the drivers in my computer it is missing so if in incert a cd it cant be found my HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4082N has a yellow exclamation an status Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
