check if dvd drive will eject if not
if it doesnt - try another socket
if still gets nothing - change fuse in plug
if same - try another power adapter (preferably from same manufacturer and model)
If still doesnt get power try get new power supply unit from repair shop or get quote for cost to fix

You might have spyware messing with your mouse.
I suggest download Ad Aware 2008 (free software)
and run a full scan.

SOURCE: aspire 5520-5912 does not start ,shows only blue screen

Try to get into safe mode by pressing F8 when you first turn onto your computer. Choose safe mode. If you can get into safe mode. Try doing a system restore back to the last date the computer was last working properly.

If you can't get into safe mode then you'll need to wipe out your hard drive and get your system back to factory defaults. You probably have corrupt system files that are causing these problems.

SOURCE: Keyboard broken on my Acer Aspire 5520

For the Acer Aspire 5520 I'm working on, (Acer Aspire 5520-5156, mode nol: ICW50)

Remove the three black screws under the battery, not the silver screws.

VERY carefuly pry off the power button cover. It will make 'snapping' sounds and if you where gentle nothing will be broken.

The keyboard has no screws holding it and can be slid toward the screen and very gently pryed out, taking care not to tear the ribbon cable, as mentioned before.

When the keyboard is out the cable can be released by gently pulling the cable lock on the header toward the cable, the thin (black in this case, it's usualy a different color than the white connector) plastic part of the connector I just use my fingernails, one index finger on each end slowly pulling till it releases.
Pull the cable out using the pull tab. You can just pull the flat cable out with the pull tab without releasing the calbe lock but you stil need to release the cable lock to properly put in the new cable, then push the cable lock back tight to the connector.

I have an Acer aspire m3200. I tried to connect it to my hdtv, i got picture but no sound using the VGA cord, and got nothing using the HDMI cord. Please help

Hello,
Using a vga cable to connect your laptop to a hdtv is very easy but the cable does not transfer the audio signal, you need another cable aswell. You need a 3.5mm jack to jack cable, one end plugs into your headphone socket on your laptop and the other end plugs into the pc audio socket at the back of your tv (usually next to where you plug in the vga plug).

Cannot get video to tv with vga to s-video adapter

try to use the vga output enable function key. it should be one of the "F-keys" (F5, F6...) hold the "Fn" key (generally in blue for the acer aspire 5520 series) and press a key that has a drawing resembling two monitors, but not the one that has a brightness drawing inside on of them, as it will turn off your main screen backlights. in the acer aspire 5520, it is the F5 key. look for a picture of this model's keyboard and you should see a similar key on your netbook as it is a manufacturer standard.

Link my acer aspire 592o laptop to my panasonic plasma

Hi,
1. S-Video – This is probably the most commonmethod out there currently because an S-Video cable is cheap as heckand just about every TV under the sun has a S-Video port. You’ll haveto make sure you laptop is equipped with this port. Remember, there aretwo types of S-Video cables: 4-pin and 7-pin. Mostlaptops and PC’s are equipped with a 7-pin port, so if your TV only hasa 4-pin S-Video port, then this method will not work.
2. VGA – If you have a HDTV, then you will bebetter off connecting using a VGA cable. It gives much better qualitythan S-Video and as with S-Video, the cable is very cheap. You usuallywon’t find a VGA port on regular TV’s though, so this option is if youhave an HDTV.
3. DVI - DVI stands for Digital Visual Interfacewith “digital” being the key word there. The digital signal will give ahigher quality picture than either S-Video or VGA. Of course, yourcomputer will need to have a DVI connection and your TV will need to bean HDTV. This cord is definitely not cheap, it ranges anywhere from $40to $80.
4. HDMI – Using HDMI will give you the best qualityby far. No computers that I know of yet have HDMI ports, but you canget a DVI to HDMI cable to connect it to your HDTV. HDMI is compatiblewith DVI.
5. Scan Converter Box – This is the last methodthat I could think of and it involves using a scan converter box, whichtakes a VGA signal and converts it into S-Video or component video.
Here’s a graphic I created with some pictures of the various cables:

Hope this helps someone! If you have any other ideas or suggestions, please feel

Hot to connect acer aspire mini laptop to digital lcd tv?

Press the Blue function key and toggle the screens. You can view, the Laptop, the Laptop and Screen, or just the screen.

Also you will need to flick through the channel button on the TV to get to the PC interface. Since you indicated you were using a VGA cable, this is likely the missing element.

Note: The VGA cable does not carry audio, you either had a separate audio interface to the TV or you were using RBG/Composite/S-Video/HDMI. So check to make sure you are using the correct cables.

Where to fit a hdmi cable

The aspire 5520 doesn't have an hdmi port but does have a DVI connector on the left hand side slightly forward of the VGA connector. If you are trying to connect the laptop to the hdmi port on a television you'll need a special cable or adapter. Adapters and cables are readily available to convert DVI to hdmi.
