My celestial tv GCBLTV20A-C55 will only tune sbs and no other channels. I press menu then auto tuning then Australia and enter it takes about 15 minutes then only comes back with sbs

Reset the TV to its factory default. Refer its user manual for details. Retune it after reset.

Had no sound on 7 mate, then lost sound on gem, tried auto tuning then lost picture and sound of all 3 chanels of sbs. so then went under options and factory reset. Still have no sound on gem an 7mate, but...

37' Dynex LCD flat tv, sound doesnt work on some chanels.

There are few sound settings on most tv's the most common is D/K and B/G the one that you want is B/G it should be under tuning or sound settings.

Is the cable remote a programmable universal? If so, just a matter of finding the codes to reprogram functions.
Concerning the "tuning video", are you saying that you can't get to different input sources?

Mono setting?

What channel is it and when they tune in that channel, is the picture nice and clear or is it grainy and snowy before the screen goes blue? On some sets, if the signal is weak, the picture will go blue. This is called Blue Screen and is there so you do not see very poor, grainy and snowy pictures. Some sets will have an option in the menu to turn the blue screen off.
