Have noise on left back speaker channel of onkyo 606 blocking sound from movies etc

No, wd40, "please" first try checking the solder connections, 9 times out of 10 it's bad solder connections. Not every issue with older Electronics is Cap related!!! Onkyo is super easy to repair like I mentioned earlier, check the solder connections first, also check the ribbons, unplug the clean the contacts with DeOxit5, if you still need help, don't hesitate to contact me, good luck!!!

First of all, be sure the volume is down fairly low so that you don't blow the speakers or the unit itself if and when the sound suddenly comes back. I've repaired many units whose owners turned them way way up to try to hear something, then flipped off a tape monitor or mute switch and got blasted. No sound with any input? (tuner, CD, etc.) Do you hear ANY noise or hiss from the speakers at all? I hate to ask, but are the speakers and inputs connected properly? On this model, the jacks are not set up beside each other as they usually are. Instead, the left channel speaker and input jacks are above the right channel jacks. This can be confusing! Are the speakers actually selected? The proper speaker select switch (below the power switch) must be in the down position. Is it possible that someone left a headphone adapter plug in the headphone jack? You know, the kind that allows you to use headphones with a 1/8" plug in that 1/4" jack? This will cause the speakers to be shut off. If you are not hearing dialogue, then check your center speaker. Most voice tracks are routed to the center channel

Unfortunately can't connect it that way. The pre out is only meant to go directly into an amplifier that has all of the same inputs (front/rear, center and surround), not a standard receiver. (Pre amp to amp only, not pre amp to receiver) If your Onkyo doesn't have all the same inputs as your Kenwood preamp has outputs you will just use your standard left/right outputs from the Kenwood to your Onkyo input (CD, Tape, Phono,DVD etc) then use the outputs (front/rear, center and surround) from your Onkyo receiver and connect directly to your speakers..

Have the same amp and speakers, had some trouble getting the imput signals sorted from the HDMI input as im using a PC with HDMI output from the mother board and Windows Media Centre. havent tryed using the mic set up yet.

Did you resolve the issue? have you tried the 7.1 outputs

There is a chance that your wiring is producing this problem. Manufacturers don't always make equipment that is compatible with each other. The biggest problem's are "ground loops". Radio Shack has a non-electrical device that separates the common ground from all equipment. You basically connect it between your amp out's and in's - cables included. It is possible that other manufactures also make and sell this device too. It's main "Google" name would most likely be - "Ground Loop Isolators". If you are using the actually speaker outputs into your subwoofer amp input(s), check your polarity wiring again. Good luck with your system - it sounds like it'll rock when it's all setup correctly.

Hi there. If you are running a 5.1 speaker system, make sure your surround speakers are on the surround terminal NOT ON THE SURROUND BACK. the surround back is only for the 7.1 speaker system.
