While printing from the USB Port sometimes slow printout/data transfer will result in slow printing of print jobs. or The printer might be
printing slow
,
pausing in between print jobs
, or
intermittent printing.
The symptom solution is mention below, read and follow the instruction.
Solution 1
After the printer is installed on the USB
Port, check the description under the Ports Tab what is selected.
Please refer to the figure below :
Using the USB/ Virtual Printer Port and DOT4/ HP Laserjet 2420, under the
Port/Description
Tab printer speed will be as per the standard. Whereas using the DOT4/ Generic IEEE 1284 under
Port/Description
Tab, Printer speed will be very slow.
If DOT4/ Generic IEEE 1284 is selected by
default, then you have to uninstall the USB driver from the Device
manager and plug in the USB cable again. Then it will detect the printer
and USB port with respect to the printer model.
Insert the Driver CD as prompted and by default it will select the DOT4 HP LaserJet2420 Port.
Solution 2

Insert the HP LaserJet 2400 print series CD-ROM.
NOTE:
If the HP Software does not automatically start, click Start
, Run
, and then Browse
. Browse to the CD-ROM drive at the top of the window under look in and select Setup.exe
.

Select Modify Installation

Select the Language of your choice.

Click Next.

Verify Reinstalling an existing printer
is selected. Under Select the port for this printer
, choose USB001
or Dot4_00x
and click Next
.

Select desired Features and click Next

Uninstall options

First verify if an uninstall options is available. If an uninstall option is available under Start, Programs, HP LaserJet 2410 2420 2430
, use this method to uninstall the printer.
