Technics SL-1210MK5 Turntable Logo
Posted on Jul 10, 2009

Hi i bought my technics 1210mk5's in america and when i gor back to ireland i had them converted to 220v as this particular model is not dual voltage. The 1210's worked fine then when i used a plug pin adapter and plugged it into the mains. I then had a turntable desk made for my turntables and decided to replace the plug end of the 1210 from the US version to the UK version and wired the techincs with the white wire to neutral and the black wire to live. When i plugged it in then the light lit up for a second and now will not turn on again. I know the wiring is the right way as i did the same for my CDJ1000's and they are working fine. Any reason why it should make a difference with a UK plug to blow something inside the turntable when it was working fine with a pin adapter (not to be mistaken for a voltage adapter as the voltage had already been switched to 220 internally.

My tv has NTSC system but our local transmission is pal system. so picture is black & white and has no audio

hi,

It seems you are going to have to buy a PAL to NTSC converter box, check out the following info i got from eHow.

NTSC, or National Television System Committee, is the system used to broadcast television that is still analog in North and South America and parts of Asia. PAL, or Phase Alternate Line, is one of the other two analog broadcast systems used in much of the rest of the world. If you are in an area that can pick up both, but your television is made to receive only one of them, you can buy an PAL-to-NTSC converter that will allow the correct input to your TV.

Purchase a PAL-NTSC converter. Most mid-range converters will convert back and forth between either system, so if you're not sure which system your television picks up, you can buy one of the dual converters. See the References section for an example of a mid-range converter. When you purchase, choose either 110V or 220V power source, and which country you are ordering from (you will need the appropriate power cord adapter for your country).

Plug the included connector cord from the "Input" (or possibly "Antennae") jack on the back of your television to the "Output" on the converter. Also, plug the power adapter into a floor jack or other power supply.

Move the Input switch to PAL and the Output switch to NTSC on the converter if it is a dual converter. This will enable you to receive PAL TV signals and convert them for your NTSC TV.

Hi, i've brought my sterling audio tube mic to england from america and bought a voltage converter but the microphone power supply won't light up or power up the mic. Is there anything i can do to convert...

Have you checked for a faulty fuse?
Also, when going from 120V to 220V the fuse's rating should be changed to (in general) half the value. The exact value should be written on the enclosure.

Power conversion

Ram,

Good day mate, no problem you can plug your dvd direct to your outlet since it indicates 100 - 240V it only means your player is capable of having either 110V 0r 220V.

note: also try to check 1st if you will see a voltage selector at the back of your dvd player. it's either a slide switch indicating 110 or 220V. if no sign of this selector no problem you can plug your player straight to your socket.

cheers

PS2 bought in the US

hi if your using original disk then you dont have to worry, regarding power its common that 240 volts devices has a autovolt feature you should try to take a look at the back of the console and if your ps2 is 120v or 110 you should use a transformer if your putting it to 220v outlets because if you dont your ps2 will be ruined, thankyou and have a nice day and Godbless you

Different HZs problem (from 60Hz to 50Hz)

Hi,

Yes there are frequency converters available but most are relatively over rated (industrial) for your requirement such as MDS Power or VisiComm Industries. What you need is a Low Power Solid State Frequency Converters lower than a
Electrocon Frequency Converters. However, I expect this devices to be rather expensive.

A few other options you may want to consider:
1. Contact the store where you bought if from; swap with an International version (Model SL-1210 Mark II; same price as SL-1200 Mark II); dual voltage switchable on rear of unit: 120 volts/60 Hz (U.S.) or 220 volts/50 Hz (Europe). You hopefully just spend for the cost of shipping + a restocking fee;
2. Contact 3rd party Technics TT specialist like TopDJGear, Quality Electronics, Planet DJ or DJHardware
and inquire if they would supply you the part(s) that you need to convert the 1200 to a 1210; or
3. Offer a swap on eBay.

Hope this be of some idea/help. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
