I have a desktop PC with a DSL broadband connection. Broadband modem is a standard modem (without Wi-Fi) having only 1 Ethernet port. I wish to access Wi-Fi internet in my home. I have also a spare DSL modem -with Wi-Fi (not router) having 4 Ethernet port. My Wi-Fi modem can also be configured directly to solve this purpose. So, I tried to configure it myself. DSL link on Wi-Fi modem shows stable but I could not access internet. I talked to Internet people they told, "MAC is need to be configured" which confuses me. Is it possible to connect my both modems and PC together with an 'Ethernet splitter' to access internet while using my standard modem as primary and Wi-Fi modem as secondary, just to broadcast Wi-Fi signals. Please guide me, is it possible to do? Thanks!
Does the non wifi modem give out DHCP addresses?
Can the wifi modem be set up to receive it's IP address from DHCP?
If the answer to both these questions is Yes then that's what to do as a first step. Make sure the wifi modem DHCP service is disabled as it must NOT give out DHCP addresses.
Connect the ethernet port of the non wifi modem to one of the LAN ports of the wifi modem and NOT the DSL/WAN port. The wifi modem is not participating in any DSL connectivity at all so it's DSL light will remain off. The non wifi modem is doing the DSL duty so it's DSL light should be correctly illuminated.
Hi Geekymark!
Thank you very much for your reply. Really, it works!!!
I have done all the setting which you described. IP of Non-WiFi modem and IP of Wi-Fi modem was same 192.168.1.1 so, i changed the IP of Wi-Fi modem to 192.168.0.5 and disabled the DHCP.
Now Wi-Fi modem broadcast the signals but speed is slow.
Secondly, I could not access my Wi-fi modem by 192.168.0.5 or 192.168.1.1. Browser shows "Page cannot be displayed" message.
Please guide me...

Why the different addresses? Put both devices in the same subnet. Whatever address you give to the wifi modem must be removed from the DHCP pool. Once you place both devices in the same subnet the wifi speed will increase.
