The wire is white from the starter key switch which goes through the neutral safety switch and is now black to the starter relay, there are 2 inertia cuto off switches in both drivers and pass kick panels which will disable the starter relay also if activated.

Unsure of th colours.
But you should have 2 cables.
He starter takes earth from the casing and engine mount.
You will have a heavy 'red' cable going to one side of the solenoid 12v+
Then you will have a little lighter (smaller gauge) cable that triggers the solenoid.

jack up thecar and put it on stands, disconnect the battery the starter is behind the radiator on the rear of the engine, remove the two bolts that hold the starter on, then lower carefully not to pull the wires apart, disconnect the signal wire firle the the main, just reverse to install

98 chevy 6cyl pickup standard trans sometime won't start ,sometimes when you turn engine of yoiu have to wait 20 minutes before it will start again. It has new plugs,new fuel pump,

You may have to inspect the starter relay or the starter. Also take a look at the wiring for some loose connections or bad wires that needs replacing.
