SOURCE: How do you clean the Dyson dco7 cyclone top

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

We would not recommend that you take the cyclone top apart. This part is designed to be a sealed unit and taking it apart may affect ther performance of your machine ongoing.

If you are concerned with the performance of your machine, please follow the blockage procedure and filter washing instructions on our website in the support section at www.dyson.com or check your user guide.

If you do want to clear dust and debris from the cyclone, we recommend that you simply hold the cyclone top over a bin and bang the sides gently to remove any dust from the inside.

Kind regards
Darran

My dyson cyclone assembly will not spin when it...

I have 2 dyson dc07. The cyclone assembly will not spin when dirt is picked up, but when I change them out the vacuum is fine, so I know it is the cyclone assembly. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum.

It sounds to me that you may have a clog but when you said you changed them out the vacuum is fine, so a couple of things, if the vacuum is still under a factory warranty of 1 or 2 years the cyclone assm still would be under a factory warranty. If it is over the 1 or 2 years then you would have to replace the cyclone assm but you may want to check with the Dyson Factory Tech Support / customer Service line as per the problem, and they can ship you the part from the factory or to check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area and they may have one in stock or they can order one for you. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Dyson dc05 takes the dirt up the cyclone cone instead of spinning it in the clear cannister and blocks the top filter within a few minutes??

    Hi its Darran at Dyson.

From your description of the problem, it sounds as though the bin inner is missing. If you remove the bin and cyclone assembly from the machine and then seaprate the two pieces as if you were going to empty it, you should have a coloured piece of plastic in the bottom of the clear bin with a large black rubber seal around the top. If you dont, you will need to purchase a new bin assembly via our website at www.dyson.co.uk or via our Helpline on 0800 298 0298.

    Kind regards

Noisey DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum; lack of suction...

Hi there it's SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. It is very likely you have a problem in the radix assembly or the filter is actually worn out. Basically to test either simply remove one then turn it on to test. If it runs better with out the filter (washable is most likely culprit) simply purchase a new one. If it is the radix assembly that is the problem it is possible to clean inside the little tubes by taking off the top and literally clearing dirt and fluff out with the help of a coat hanger. Alternatively a new one can be purchased. If you are in Australia or New Zealand I can help you with either part. Just put in a request via the email link n our website. Hope this helps regards Alec

Every time i VACUUM THE DIRT AND HAIR GET STUCK ON TOP OF THE FILTER WHICH IS LOCATED UNDERNEATH THE CANISTER//

There is a black gasket type thing that fits on the bottom of the cyclone part that is supposed to keep dirt and hair from getting down to that filter. Yours is probably missing - mine was. I called Dyson and they sent me a new cyclone for free.

Cleaning the filter on the Dyson DC17

The fliter is under the canister. Take it off as if going to empty the dirt out. There is a cap that lifts up to clean the filter. I washed mine and let it dry (it took almost 3 days) before replacing it.

Bottom of dirt container doesn't stay closed

The catch/latch that is on the bottom of the bin button release has likely broken.
If you take out the canister (as when you are dumping the bin), and flip it upside down and then squeeze the bin release button, you will see that it moves a rod inside the cyclone assembly.  At the end of this rod is a plastic (plastic.. redundant, as the entire Dyson is practically plastic) latch that catches onto the bin's lid and locks it in place.  A broken latch means it doesn't lock the lid in.
What you need is a replacement latch.  Note that the "Bin Release Button + Rod assembly" that are sometimes sold on ebay do *not* contain the latch at the end of the rod.  Also the bottom bin assembly does not contain the required parts.
The cyclone assembly should have the full bin release rod + latch, so if you can't find the latch, then a new cyclone assembly would work also (but will cost more, obviously).
