Gas ovens / stovetop that use gas and not electricity. These work by igniting gas and use actual flame on the the stovetop.

Newest cook top styles, such as the induction or halogen cook tops combine the same style to produce more even heating. Some of these ovens feature thermal limiters or thermostats that regulate the burner system. I offer free advice bcuz God is so good!

GAS OVENS
The spark igniter tip is dirty (can clean it with either a little wire brush or a piece of fine sandpaper).
2) The Pilot flame is too low, and the tip of the igniter is not in the flame good enough. (the flame acts as a circuit when it touches the tip & completes the circuit).
3) The spark module is no good and needs to be replaced.(But 1 & 2 are your best bet).
spark module does not sense the flame when it's on. The spark igniter is also the flame sensor which provides feedback to the spark module.

Make sure the igniter is properly aligned with the burner lighting holes and it is clean. All lighting holes must be clean too. You can enlarge them using a drill bit one size bigger.

If it would not fix the problem, replace the bake burner and the igniter.
There is a small chance for the spark module itself to be bad as well.

The oven safety valve
(also called the gas valve) is the part that ensures that gas is not released until the igniter has reached the correct temperature needed to ignite the gas. While this part can fail, it is uncommon. If the hot surface igniter does not glow you should first verify that you have voltage to the circuit. This is a live voltage check and should be performed by a qualified person. If voltage is lost at the valve terminals then you should verify the continuity of the bi-metal in the valve using a multi-meter.

SOURCE: The Glow Plug is glowing, but oven will not light up.

Hi,

This may sound strange but it is most often the glow plug that is bad. What happens is as the ignitor (glow plug) ages the resistance internally rises, this rise gets to a point where it limits the electrical current just enough that the valve no longer opens.

SOURCE: Oven ignitor glows bright red, but oven will not

our ignitor glowed but still was not working right. it has to get to a certain temp before the gas valve will open. try changing it out. fairly inexpensive.

No gas flow to oven, glow bar ignites no flame no smell of gas. safety gas safety valve was replaced

With the glow bar going and no gas smell that means you have a good circuit from control to valve and glow bar. For that glow bar to work it must change in resistance. If it is weak it won't change enough resistance to make the gas valve bi-metal open. Also the gas safety valve does not come preset and usually is bottomed out all the way for propane. You must adjust the orifice to aprox the same height as the old one to get the propah gas output for natural gas.

if your old valve did not leak and has continuity between the terminals it is fine. The ignitor/glowbar is weak. If it is dim orange that is usually a way to tell. Bumping the stove makes the bi-metal come on also is a sign of a weak glowbar

My oven works fine it just doesn't heat-up. I can hear ignition clicking but no fire from burners. A technican told me to purge the union above gas to get rid of air in the line. Thanks Louis

Personally I wouldn't describe an oven that doesn't heat up as working fine. You shouldn't have any air in your gas line unless this is the first time firing the oven, in either case the air in the gas line would work its way out eventually and the oven would light on its own.

Check to see if your ignitor is glowing before you hear the clicking, if the ignitor isn't glowing it needs to be replaced and is fairly easy to do so. If your ignitor is glowing you should check to make sure you are getting gas to the burner. The only way I would recommend checking this is with your nose, do you smell gas when the gas valve clicks? If you do then something is wrong with the burner, either dirty or the exhaust is too strong, or even gas pressure too low. If you don't smell any gas that doesn't necessarily mean no gas is coming out, at this point you should call a authorized service provider to take it over from here.

Oven does not light

first check the igniter to see the color of it. if it is orange you need to replace it because it is too weak to ignite. it needs to glow white hot. second, the burning smell could be from the coil, check the coils as well near the gas valve.

Oven takes 5 minutes to come on (ignite).

Replaced the igniter. The parts guy told me that the amperage changes with age and use; thus the igniter still glows, but it takes much longer to operate the gas valve with the reduced amperage. Cost - $70.14

I have a whirlpool oven model #sf368lepw. The stovetop burners will light but the oven will not light. The igniter is working and I can hear and smell gas flowing but it wll not light. What do I need to...

you need to look at the igniter and see if it is orange. the ignitor or glow coil as it can also be called, needs to glow white hot in order for the oven to ignite. when it gets orange it needs to be replaced. hope this helps.

Oven does not light

Try this:  . See if the ignitor is in the direct path of the gas. If not move it slightly to be closer to that path. Maybe something his it and it is out of position. Gas + Glow(together) = Fire The other possibility is that somethng in in the path of the gas leading to the glow coil.

GE Oven does not light - no gas smell and no electronic ignition clicking sound

It probably needs an oven igniter. Remove oven racks. Remove oven floor. Usually 2 screws towards back. Remove flame spreader if it has one. You can see long tube with holes in sides and igniter with 2 wires from rear. Now try oven. See if igniter glows. If it does but doesn't light within 1 minute, replace igniter.
If it doesn't glow, you need to check for power to igniter. Should be about 100 volts. If not may need ERC, "Electronic Range Control".
