I had this problem on a 42" Philips Ambilight. After reading in another forum, opened up the back, and found 2 leaking capacitors on the center circuit board (main power supply pc board) toward the bottom. Tops of the capacitors were bludged out (10v 3300uF) and leaking electrolytes. Unsoldered the old ones myself, went to Radio Shack. They were out, so order 12 on ebay for $6.63 including shipping. Resoldered and works fine. Can't do it yourself? Take the board out (just unhook the cables & unscrew it ), and take it to a computer shop or tv repair or someone who knows how to solder, and have them change them. Piece of cake!

I have the same problem with my pf9631d 50 inch. Pulled the back panel off and noticed same problem as KreitlerKe described. Two capacitors bulged and leaking. Heated them up with a hair dryer and tv came right on. Waiting on capacitors to be shipped and will replace. Thanks KreitlerKe.

First place to check is the power supply board. I have not repaired this particular model. I'm very certain you have two bad capacitors in the power supply. This is a classic problem for Philips flat TVs. The capacitors will be bulged or skinned. Be sure to replace them with same values. I would certainly gamble my time removing the power supply for inspection. Spending a few bucks on two capacitors may prove good. A working TV is near. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

Phillips ambilight TV Flashing red LED light--- ^ long blinks and then 3 short blinks--- picture and sound will not come on---

Check the tv power supply board for those dying parts call copactors. That the board, where the power a/c cord plug into it.These capacitors are alway bulges or puffing up on it tops.U have tools and know basic electronic?Replaced those dying soon to be dead capacitors, will fix the power supply and have stable tv power again and tv will work.Or try website like Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Tv wont turn on it cycles through about 5 times then it turns off blinking 2 red lights at the bottom of the monitor.

Are you sure its two red lights blinking and not the one red light blinking and you can see it through the other window to look like two red lights? If so sounds like your lamp is blown. Open the back door and unscrew the lamp (2 phillips screws) and check to see if your lamp is blown.

Having problems turning on 2 year old Phillips

Philips TVs tend to have issues with bad capacitors in their power supplies. Failing capacitors tend to have slightly different ESR (equivalent series resistance) values when they have been left off, versus after they are warmed up and charged up. Either a new power supply board or replacement of the faulty capacitors will fix the problem.

Tv wont turn on and automatically shuts down

I'm having the same issues with my phillips flat panel. I downloaded the firmware update from phillips and that helped...but only once. I'm back to the same issue this morning. But you might try this download...it may work for you.

I don't know how to turn on the ambi lighting system on my new Phillips LCD tv.

if it is equipped whit the ambilights the remote should have 2 buttons on it that says ambilight on/off and mode, or it is in the menu of the set under preferences.
