Brings up the Swipe to Shutdown Screen then goes black

Every time I turn on the tablet by holding the power button it brings the "swipe to shutdown" option then simply goes black (ie doesn't go through the actual shutdown phase). If I don't swipe the screen also goes black. Is there some other way to reboot the tablet?

Try holding the button for a shorter period.

SOURCE: rebooting when try shutdown

It seems that some minor windows files are corrupted, you needed to insert the Windows XP CD and try to fix the files by re-installing the system... this will restore the corrupted files.

It might be the problem in your smps also or just clear your CMOS or enter f8 button while booting and stop restarting in the option"stop restarting windows "

the best method to overcome this problem is format the computer!!! i too used to get the same problem!!i did format it...!

SOURCE: windows xp startup and shutdown has changed!

To configure Windows XP to use the default logon and shutdown screens for every logon session, follow these steps:

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click User Accounts.
Click Change the way users log on or off.
check the Use the Welcome screen check box.

I have a diferent problem. I connect ok with satellite connection but not with terrestrial connection with the same PC, and same software. Can be a problem with MTU???? What other problem can be?

System is frozen. Wont shut down or go to start screen.

Here are two things to try:
I- Using the Power button:
1 Press and hold the Power button for at least 4 seconds.
2 Swipe-down the shutdown confirmation screen to the bottom
edge of the display to turn off the tablet.
Using Charms:
1 Swipe-in from the right edge of the display to access Charms.
2 Touch Settings
Turning Off the Screen
Using the Power button:
Press the Power button to turn off the screen.
Using Charms:
1 Swipe-in from the right edge of the display to access Charms.
2 Touch Settings
NOTE: If your tablet is in a standby state (tablet is on, but screen is off), press the Power button or Windows button once to turn on the screen.

Why has my iPad stopped playing videos

Sometimes the iPad develops glitches, like all computers, that can only be resolved by cycling the power.

Hold down the power button until the <POWER OFF> dialog appears.
Swipe to accept the power-off and wait a minute for it to completely shutdown.
Restart the iPad as usual and check your video state.

You might also check the Apple store for updates when you've restored power, just to make sure that it is has all its bug-fixes and updates.

push the home button twice to bring up all active apps; swipe them all one at a time to the top of the screen, or, hold both the home and power button down for 10 seconds to force a hard shutdown.

Swipe from right to left.

If that doesn't work, close Safari and reboot your iPad.
Double tap tap the home button and then swipe up on the Safari preview screen that you see right above the Safari icon. Swiping up on that screen will close the app.
Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple Logo appears on the screen. After the iPad starts up, try again.

To power down your Apple iPad, simple find the power button located on the top right edge of the device, push it in and hold it for four to five seconds. It will now come up with a prompt on screen, asking you to swipe the screen from left to right if you want to confirm a shutdown. Follow the instructions on screen and it will power off.

How do I reset my ipad

What type of reset? To reset go to settings>General> scroll to bottom of the page and you'll find reset options there. To turn off the iPad completely, not sleep, you hold the power button down until you get asked if you want to turn off, swipe and it's off. Turn on by holding down until it starts. If you want to clear the RAM hold the power button down till the turn off swipe screen appears, then hold down the home button until screen returns to normal. Hope that helps.
