Bought yesterday and goes but revs too much either full revs or half but no idle it just cuts out and I cant see how to adjust the carby.
Idle should be adjustable , but if it was purchased in the u s of a since 2012 then sorry it's got a C.A.R.B. type carb on it ( google that acronym) and sorry fuel mixtures are not adjustable anymore the clean air folks took care of that for us! I thank them everyday for looking out for us all .
look on top of carb right next to cam that moves when you press throttle down , there you'll see a very small screw that's your idle adjustment

the l is for idle and the h is for top end but thats not ur problem it sounds like ur carb is clogged there is a screen inside of the carb the fuel gets crystalized and blocks off some and sometimes all of the fuel ill bet thats the problembut u can try the adjustments first give the unit full throttle and turn the h adjustment screw in and or out till it sounds great and at full power if that dont work then do the screen in the carb

try removing the muffler and scraping out any carbon build up in the exhaust mouth of the block. if that doesnt help you will probably need to replace the carb.

ok then these are the low and high speed adjusting screws. first make sure the spark plug is clean of buildup or new . what you need to do is first try to get it to idle with the low adj screw. now im not sure which ones which so try one and if it makes no difference during idle then try the other. start it if it dies turn the screw , repeat this until you get the right sound and steady idle.once you figure out the low screw trun it all the way clockwise then turn it counter about 2 turns. then tune the idle from here. you want it to have a steady sounding idle. now the idle sounds good use the high screw to adjust the throttle. give it about half throttle and turn the high screw until it sounds steady here. then go to full throttle and turn high screw until it sounds steady here. now it should sound steady at idle and throttle. and try not to trun the screws more than 1/8 to 1/4 turn at a time,especially the high, you dont want to blow it up. lemme know how it goes

The H (High Speed) and L (low Speed) should not typically need adjustment. What happens is the diaphragms get stiff and do not operate efficiently. If the unit is over 5 years old and/or the fuel is not completely drained with the unit run dry at the end of the fall, then I would suggest replacing the diaphragms within the carburetor. This along with spark plug change, air filter cleaning and a check of the muffler to insure it is not clogged is considered a basic tune-up.
