There is a lot of problems that can cause the light to turn red, such as paper jam, low toner, full waste toner tank, etc. The only real way to know what the printer is detecting is to use the smartpanel utility program. It should be able to tell you what the printer fault.
When the status LED is flashing red, it means there is some minor error(i.e. the front door isn't latched shut, paper is jammed, etc) or the toner is getting low.
Double click on Smart Panel (the blue S in the task bar...it's installed with the driver) and it will tell you what the error is. For future reference, you can download the manual at our support site: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/CLP-300
There is a lot of faults that cause the red light to turn on, toner cartridge empty, waste toner tank full, paper jam, imaging unit replacement, etc. The only real way to know what the problem the printer is seeing is to use the smartpanel utility on your PC. It will show you what the printer is reporting and how to correct it. Hope this helps you.
There are various problems that can cause the red light to light. The best way of determining the problem is to check the smartpanel utility program on the computer to determine what the printer is seeing as the problem.
The red light stays on even in cases there's a paper size mismatch, and press the GO/START button usually helps. Also, it may be an indication that one of the toners is empty. See the level of the toner, the printer control program does this. If nothing seems to be wrong but you still have the red light on, unplug the power cord and plug it back in after a minute. Hopefully that may help.
Hey angel! The best is to load the smartpanel software that's on the driver disk and see what smartpanel says about the problem,it can be anything from paper jam to toner low?Good Luck!
