SOURCE: TV & Tuner stays in Standby mode

Assuming you have tried changing batteries in your remote and any front panel power switch your set has, the main power supply is probably at fault and without some technical background and a couple of test instruments, you will not be able to do the repair yourself.  What you can do though is; unplug the set, let it stand overnight or at least several hours, remove the back panel and look for a separate board with mostly larger components on it; it will have a ferrite core transformer on it and several larger capacitors which are cylindrical and mounted vertically to the board.

Before touching anything inside, especially on that board, allow several hours to be safe since the larger capacitors can hold a painful voltage charge for some hours.

If you see signs of overheating such as discoloration of the board material, it may not be repairable but if you can find a part number on the board, you might be able to buy the power supply and install it yourself.
If there are no signs of heat damage to the board, there may be companies offering to repair it as a subassembly instead of repairing the whole set which could be much more expensive.
If you choose to replace or have it done, the power supply still may not be at fault since most are capable of switching on and off if a downstream problem is causing an overload.

SOURCE: Plasma TV

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

To get a good signal on all TV units, the source must be good and strong. The source could be an aerial antenna or connection to your local cable provider. The message "No Signal" indicates that the TV cold not receive a decent TV signal. With this in mind, possible solution wouold then be to increase/improve the incoming TV signal:

  • if you are using an aerial, 'height is might' to overcome any line-of-sight obstruction. Additionally, there are antennas with higher gain, meaning they could receive better than other antennas. Another option is installing a pre-amp or commonly called booster;
  • if you are hooked to a cable provider then it may be to your advantage to bring this concern to their attention. They could try transferring you tap off point to a better distribution box, replace your coaxial cable with low loss or even in some cases, install an inline booster;
  • possible RFI (radio frequency interference) which could come from wireless phones, garage door openers, WiFi, electronic dimmers, electronic ballasts of high density lamps and others. If any are present or within the immediate vicinity, pls try to relocate or reposition.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Emerson LC195emx 19 in. TV/PC Problem. Works fine as DTV. In PC (RGB) mode it works fine when power ON before PC boot. After PC enters STANDBY, screen reverts to standby. When PC comes out of standby,...

I've had the same issue with a samsung. It had something to do with the PC not being able to detect the hardware when it came out of standby, and sending the wrong screen resolution to the TV. I ended up finally turning off standby on the PC (control panel-->power options) and just setting a screen saver.
Sometimes when the pc came back up, I could switch the source on the TV (to maybe an HDMI) then switch it back to the PC connector and it would find it. But, on mine it was inconsistent.
