Sorry to be so long - I'm an ex TV engineer but ought to be able to fix my own TV - yeah! It's Philips UK PAL model 21PT 4416/05 and it has a frame collapse. There is sound and signs of video on screen but after about 20 secs it just quits. The line timebase stops, the tube heater goes off, and the sound is no more.
What i need more than anything right now is a circuit of the electronics. I can just recognise the various areas on the PCB, like LOPT - Frame o/p - power , but I don't know if there's a killer circuit for frame collapse or what the frame circuit actually comprises. I can solder, I can probably get bits for it, but I cannot locate a schematic anywhere on the web.
So I'd be mighty glad of any help you can give me. The PCB is marked thus:- CH21BL PSLL S3W 1P2SFHL
Cheers,
Beresfordjohn

after 4 or 5 yrs EHT ( transformer that supplies voltage to CRT TUBE - TV TUBE ) becomes weak - then few TVs ( not all TVs ) behaves exactly as you have described.............. .......so solution is EHT ( also called as flyback transformer ) should be replaced....... {{ few details about EHT---- its size will be around 3inch X 2inch X 2inch ---it will have 2 or 3 knobs to adjust focus , brightness ------ at bottom around 10 pins will be there ------- from EHT 1 thick red colour cable goes to CRT TUBE --------- on EHT its part number will be there }} -------- so if user is a technical person having idea about components ( resistors, transistors, diodes, etc ) , having tools like multimeter ( to check components) , soldering iron, soldering lead, flux, desoldering wig ( for removing components), etc also little experience in servicing field( compulsory) ----------------- then user can remove EHT from main board ---- take to electronic shop ----- buy same type EHT --------- fix to mainboard ( knobs on EHT should be adjusted according to picture --- after switching TV --- this adjustment is very important ) ----------iam from bangalore (09986222774, [email protected]) ----- here EHT's price will be around Rs 250 ( US $ 6 ) & for my customers (in bangalore) i will take another Rs 500 (US $ 11) as service charge......i don't have any idea about EHT ' s price & service charge in your place.........since it is very risky job i suggest to contact TV service engineer ------- because they are highly experienced & can fix this component very easily. ------------ [[ sometimes along with EHT another component called transistor ( big in size - situated close to EHT - it will have 3pins - its size will be 1inch X 1/2 inch X 1/2 cm --approximately ---- black in colour ----- fixed to aluminium metal ) --- will also gets deffective --- so this component also should be checked ]] ---- in your case this transistor is good ... because when this component gets deffective then TV won't get '' ON '' .............so in your case only EHT should be replaced.........100% it works normally ----- though it is 14yrs old itseems TV TUBE is still in good condition because you have said that whenever display comes picture is clear......so if EHT ( same type) is replaced then your TV will work atleast for 2 more years.....GUARANTEE.......
after 4 or 5 yrs EHT ( transformer that supplies voltage to CRT TUBE - TV TUBE ) becomes weak - then 1 of the indication is ....NOISY SOUND comes ... that is from EHT.....so solution is EHT ( also called as flyback transformer ) should be replaced....... {{ few details about EHT---- its size will be around 3inch X 2inch X 2inch ---it will have 2 or 3 knobs to adjust focus , brightness ------ at bottom around 10 pins will be there ------- from EHT 1 thick red colour cable goes to CRT TUBE --------- on EHT its part number will be there }} -------- so if user is a technical person having idea about components ( resistors, transistors, diodes, etc ) , having tools like multimeter ( to check components) , soldering iron, soldering lead, flux, desoldering wig ( for removing components), etc also little experience in servicing field( compulsory) ----------------- then user can remove EHT from main board ---- take to electronic shop ----- buy same type EHT --------- fix to mainboard ( knobs on EHT should be adjusted according to picture --- after switching TV --- this adjustment is very important ) ----------iam from bangalore (09986222774, [email protected]) ----- here EHT's price will be around Rs 250 ( US $ 6 ) & for my customers (in bangalore) i will take another Rs 500 (US $ 11) as sevice charge......i don't have any idea about EHT ' s price & service charge in your place.........since it is very risky job i suggest to contact TV service engineer ------- because they are highly experienced & can fix this component very easily.....
1st POSSIBILITY.....usually after 4 or 5 yrs EHT ( transformer that supplies voltage to tube ) becomes weak - then TV won't get ON.. means no picture no sound ( in some TVs ''garrrr'' like sound comes - that sound is from EHT.... but it is rare....some times ''click click'' sound comes...it is from relay switch ) ..... but LED blinks - in some TVs along with EHT 1 or 2 components like resistor, transistors, etc will also gets deffective ................ 2nd POSSIBILITY - main capacitor (very big in size) is blowing off...................... - so solution is TV circuit board has to be checked to find whether only EHT is deffective or other components are also deffective - price of EHT will be between Rs.250 (US$ 5) to Rs.600 ( US$ 12) & price of capacitor will be between Rs.50 ( US$ 1) to Rs.150 ( US$ 3) ..........iam from bangalore.....i have no idea about component's price & service charge in your area.....this problem cannot be solved by user unless user is a technical person having idea about components (resistors, transistors,diodes,...etc..), having multimeter , soldering iron & other tools...so my suggestion call TV service engineer or contact panasonic service centre
You have a frame collapse problem. Line, EHT, power supply, video and sound stages are all functioning. Check frame output ic for dry joints, resolder all pins. HT supply for output ic's derived from line stage check for open circuit safety resistors around line output transformer, if you find any then frame output ic will also be suspect. WARNING Very high voltages exist around the line stage. Make cold tests with Ohm meter with set unpluged from mains supply.
This is a frame collapse. If it sorts itself & then goes like this intermittantly then you will have a poor soldered connection either on the frame IC or surrounding components. If the white line is permanent then most likely the frame IC has failed & would need replaced.
You need to push the red buttons underneath the seat. This releases the seat's connection on the back bar. Next sort of wiggle the seat until you can push it forward and then separate the seat from the frame. Then to collapse the frame, look for the piece half way down the frame that looks like it can slide. Slide the pieces up (on both sides of the frame) until you can fold the frame in half. It is still pretty bulky. I dont think the seat part collapses any further.
Hope it helps.
It sounds like the output transistors have failed.
Disconnect everything from the amp except for the B+, ground and remote and turn the amp on. If it goes into protect, the amp is in need of repair.
If you want to repair it yourself, email power acoustic for the schematic.
have a Mitsubishi TV 1993. Model CS-35301. The problem is that there is a white line that is running through a blank screen. The sound is fine just no picture. Have you heard of "Vertical Collapse?"
I would love to save the TV.
Hi
nothing to worry just minimise brightness to avoid screen burn.
"Vertical Collapse?"
means one bright hor.line in the middle of screen.
this problem can be solved
1 check vertical yoke connector or wire loose
2 check supply to vertical section which normally comes from EHT transformer
check components in vertical section or print loose
regards
thanks
Right!
