Using flash on Sony Cybershot DSC-F828 digital camera

If it flashes when you take any photo then you have the flash set to manual override for each shot or you're just shooting in areas too dark for any photos without the flash. Check your flash settings or try a factory default reset from the camera's menu options.

The problem is most likely with the micro switch in the Compact Flash door. Try using a Memory Stick and the problem will not likely appear.

You can re-enalbe the flash of this camera by pressing on the lightning button repeatedly until flash is enabled

Make sure Flash Shoe option is Off in setup menu then check flash light.
Does camera give any blinking error code when flash fails to fire?
Does flash pop up when you press shutter button to take picture in low light?

How to troubleshoot an external flash that will not work. Solution
IMPORTANT: Depending on the mode of the camera, the external flash may not be available. Refer to the instruction manual of the camera for more information.

1. Ensure the external flash is properly inserted into the accessory shoe on the camera.
2. If using the connection cord, ensure it is properly attached.
3. If the external flash uses batteries, ensure fresh batteries are installed.
4. Ensure that the POWER switch on the external flash is set to ON .
5. Ensure the hot shoe setting on the camera is properly set for the type of external flash and camera being used. NOTES:
   
   • When using a commercially available standard external flash, ensure the hot shoe is turned on.
   • If a Sony external flash is being used with an advanced hot shoe on a Sony camera, ensure the hot shoe is turned off.
   • It may be necessary to refer to the instruction manual of the camera and external flash for specific information about the hot shoe.
6. Ensure the READY lamp on the external flash is illuminated.

There dirt or particle is sticking the cover flash, try to cleaned around the cover.

The DSC-F828 doesn't have a black&white mode. However, just about any photo editing program will have the ability to convert color photos to black&white. Doing so on a computer will give you much better control over things like brightness and contrast than you would get if you just let the camera do it.

You might try going to a place that repairs watches and jewelry...they usually keep an assortment of tiny screws on hand.

The sony cyber-Shot Dsc F828 does not work well with memory stick that are more than 2gb. I have used 4gb memory stick, but realised that it failed to record most of my photos. Other are recorded but hard to extract. I would recomed 1gb stick. Keep more than one
