SOME, of the Bearcat radios you could hold down the "2" and "9" button while turning it on - worked on the old units; I don't know about the newer ones.

What did you mean by change the squelch?

The squelch control gets rid of the hissing on a blank channel. Finda blank channel, turn up the squelch control until the hissing stops. The scanner should then scan the channels and stop on a busy one.

We cant figure out how to program our bc355c scanner and where to find the codes so we can get it programed and start using it

The BC355C is a factory-programmed scanner, and you cannot program it in the normal manner (entering frequencies via the keyboard). You can, however, transfer a displayed frequency in SEARCH or SCAN mode to your PRIVATE bank. Detailed instructions for doing this are in the factory manual that you can download and print, at no cost, here:
http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BC355Com.pdf

You can find a comprehensive database of active frequencies in your area (they're not codes), and a lot of other useful scanning information, here:

Is there a video on how to manually program the bearcat scanner BC355C 100 channel to put in my area frequency into the scanner?

Sorry, but there is no such video that I know of. Besides that, your BC355C is not a programmable scanner in the standard sense, in that you cannot enter frequencies via the keyboard. You can, however, transfer a displayed frequency from the SCAN or SEARCH mode into the PRIVATE bank. Fairly simple instructions are in the factory manual that you can download and print, at no cost, here:

How do you program a uniden bearcat scanner bc355c

Turn on the radio
Press the "band" button
Keep pressing the "band" button until you come within the parameters of the frequency that you want
Let the radio scan until it gets close to the actual frequency that you're looking for
Press the "hold" button and use the arrow "up" or "down" button till you lock in the correct frequency
Once you have the frequency locked in, press the "program" button
Press the "private" button
The unused channel will be flashing
Press the "program" button, this locks the frequency into that channel
Continue this process until all of the frequencies are loaded into the radio
