Which specific Uniden phone do you have? For most of their phones, press and hold the # key (below the 9). If the phone is in Silent Mode, it will exit that mode. If you aren't in Silent Mode, you will see a prompt asking how long to maintain the Silent Mode. Pressing a number will set the number of hours without the phone ringing. If no buttons are pressed, the phone will enter the Always On Silent mode after about 5 seconds.

I hope this helps.

1. With the phone in standby, press and hold # on any handset. The phone prompts you to select the number of hours (1 - 9 or Always On) that you want it to stay in silent mode.
2. To confirm, press # or just wait about 5 seconds. The phone turns on the answering system and displays Silent Mode On on each handset.
3. After the selected number of hours, the phone automatically exits silent mode. To exit silent mode manually, press and hold # again.

Do not know how to turn off the slient mode

You can silence the ringers on the base and handsets at the same time. It doesn't affect the visual ringer on the phone in standby, press and hold Silent on the base. The phone automatically turns on the answering system and shows Do Not Disturb in the display on handset. (The answering system answers any incoming calls without playing anything through the speaker.)To cancel, press Silent again. If you turn the answering system off while Silent Mode is on, the phone turns off Silent Mode.

Phone is stuck in silent mode

Press and hold the pound key (#) until it exits silent mode.

Here is the original text from the manual of the phone:

"Quickly Switching to Silent Mode
Silent mode is convenient when you wish to stop the
phone from making noise, in a theater for example.
In Idle mode, press and hold the "#" key until the “Silent
Mode” message and the Vibration icon display...

To exit and reactivate the previous sound settings, press
and hold the # key again until “Exit Silent Mode” appears.
The Vibration icon no longer displays."

You can also download the pdf file for the phone's manual online by simply googling "Samsung x427m pdf manual."

Hope this helps!
