Question about LG Goldstar LD65EL Dehumidifier

1 Answer

LG Dehumidifier Fan

Should the fan be snug on it's axle? Mine spins freely. If it should be tight on it, is there anything I can try, short of replacing the fan/motor units? I have the 65 pint unit.

MY DEHUMIDIFIER COMPRESSOR SOUNDS LIKE IT IS RUNNIN BUT, THE FAN WHEN ENERGISED IS TIGHT & WILL NOT RUN. WHEN NOT ENERGISED THE FAN SPINS FREELY. SHOULD i REPLACE THE FAN MOTOR???

Definitely sounds like the thing to do. However, before you do that, try lubricating the fan motor shaft with some light oil (like sewing machine oil). That may free it up.

Fan not working, outlet is live, product is 6 mos old, located in an indoor swimming pool (endless swim machine) Hi E Dry 100,

If the fan does not operate with the fan switch set "on", there is a problem with the power supply, internal wiring, or the fan itself.

First make sure the dehumidifier is plugged in to a working outlet.

Next unplug the dehumidifier and remove the cabinet cover. Check the internal wiring for loose connections.

Next remove the fan and check that it is able to spin freely (by hand). If it spins freely, it should be replaced. Call the manufacturer at 1-800-533-7533 for parts and instructions.

It is heating up the place and its very loud.

Hi,

With the unit unplugged, open the cover and check the alignment of the fan. If the fan is stuck or rubbing against the fan cowling, adjust the fan motor's mounting hardware so that the fan turns freely.

Good luck.

Fan does not work

Shut the power off to the unit, spin the fan blade to see if it spins freely. If it doesn't spin freely, (there appears to be a little drag when you spin it),the bearings are bad, if it does spin freely, then try moving the motor shaft from side to side if there’s any play in the shaft side to side then the bearings are worn and motor needs replaced. Then, check the capacitor, if it’s bulging even slightly, the capacitor is bad and needs replaced. Most of the time people replace the capacitor if motor seems ok. If capacitor is ok, turn power on to see if the motor is getting the proper voltage, if it is and not trying to run, then the windings are probably open, the motor's bad and needs replaced.

let the unit cool down
with power on try sticking something in there to spin the fan blade
if it spins and continues to work it is a bad capacitor (little shiny metal can sometimes oval or round)
if it doesnt spin i would have to guess the motor is bad

LD65EL Dehumidifier rumbles and has poor air flow

Sounds like the bearings have failed in the fan motor, & the rotor is rubbing on the stator. You mentioned end play in the shaft, check for cross play. There should be no perceptable cross play, any found indicates a need for a new motor.
