All I would add here is to make sure that you rinse the head really well before setting aside to dry as the ammonia leaves a thin residue which may cause further blockages.
Rosemary.
Do a deep clean cycle then a nozzle check either from the computer or the maintenance wheel on the 610.
May sure all the line are printed correctly.
If not remove the head and cartridges and take some hot(not boiling) water and mix it with2 oz. of Ammonia and let the head sit for an hour in a cereal bowl .Re-install after making sure the head is completely dry and check nozzles again.
If not working you either have bad cartridges or a bad head.
I have a new heads if needed.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Note: [HEAD REFRESHING] uses more ink than [HEAD CLEANING], so perform [HEAD REFRESHING] only when necessary.
Thanks, Joe

SOURCE: Changed ink cartrigde and printer no longer printing.
microsoft logo is in colour and so its printing while everything else on test page is black so its not printing. the problem is common.you need to do automatic deep cleaning for the ink flow to start once you install new cartridges.go to printer maintanance option and click the option deep cleaning .it will pull out the ink in printer head and it will start working.sometimes also requires cleaning twice. thanks and do not forget to accept the solution.
SOURCE: done all the things you advise to clear the print
Yes, the print head is clogged.Try unclogging manually.Open the cover and first remove the ink cartridges. Then open the holder and remove the print head.Run hot tap water and put the print head with the nozzles up to stream water.Hold that 5 mins then turn the print head around
with the nozzles down.Hold that for every color of 5 mins. Then put the print head in hot water with the nozzles down.Left it water about 15 mins and then you must very nice to dry. When the print head dry put it in printer and start cleaning. If this not help you need to replace the print head. It's part number is QY6-0075.

Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
If you are using factory new cartridges, then please call the manufacturers Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

SOURCE: refilled ink cartridges on pixma mp490 ...will not print
I know this is frustrating. I am all for recycling and using refilled ink and laser toner cartridges. However, the manufacturers make most of their money from ink and toner sales. So, from time to time, they will encode or datecode cartridge chips. The only times I've been ale to get around this is by using at least one genuine OEM cartridge to trick the printer. If that does not work, try another et of refills, or you will have to use only OEMs.
