I was having trouble with my dsl getting stuck so I would tap the reset button on back or disconnect from the phone line and it would clear. Then I discovered the landline dial tone was gone. So I called my landline from a cell phone and it would ring, I would pick up the landline hear myself on the other line so I hung up, then picked up the landline again and had a dial tone. It seemed to clcear the line. Now, I can't get the dial tone back doing this either. My dsl isn't giving problems either. I tried the outside box and it has a dial tone. ATT claims this is a problem with my inside wiring. Is there any way I can fix this myself?

It is a static buildup in the box. You will have to keep unpluging router for and cable for 10 seconds and reconnect each time.

Phone line is busy, but the cordless phone is hung up

If the line is busy, there's a phone off the hook somewhere or there's a bad phone jack or line cord. If this is the only phone on the line, disconnect the AC power adapter from the base and also disconnect the battery in the handset. On both units, press a couple of buttons to drain off stored charge. After a minute or so, reconnect the battery and base power, and see if the line is free. Sometimes, especially in hot weather when lots of people using air conditioners or storms can cause power line glitches, the computer in the phone gets confused. This process resets everything and may clear up the trouble.

If you don't have another phone and the trouble continues after trying the reset, see if you can borrow another phone from someone for testing. If that fixes the trouble you need a new phone.

Your phone line itself might have a problem that is causing your phone service provider to think your line is in use. There may be water in the line or some other fault outside, or some problem on your inside wiring. (A friend had a problem after she plugged in a new phone, and it turned out one of the prongs in the jack had bent and was touching the one next to it. In another case, a phone jack that had gotten wet had corroded and was shorted.)

If you have other phones on the line, disconnect them all from their jacks. Reconnect one and see if the line is free. Then you can reconnect the others, checking each time. This will let you determine which one is causing the problem.

This kind of problem can be frustrating, but it can be solved. Good luck, and thanks for using Fixya!

Theres no dsl light on the router, its a d link dsl2640b. so i need to know if its broke, the power light is on and the status light but no dsl light and no internet light on router, the pc is showing...

The flashing DSL light means that the modem isn't seeing the DSL signal on the phone line it's connected to. This might be due to modem failure, but it might also indicate a phone line problem. The most common trouble I run across is an unfiltered device connected on the line that interferes with the DSL signal. Other than the modem, all devices (phones, fax machines, security systems, etc.) need to be connected to the line through a filter. Check to be sure something hasn't been connected without a filter. Sometimes a phone gets moved or a new phone is added that gets plugged in to a handy jack without being filtered.

If you can, try connecting another modem to the line. You may be able to borrow one, or find one at a resale shop. I see them quite often for only a couple of dollars, leftover from people changing to FiOS or cable service. This can help determine if the modem is responsible.

One final possibility: your DSL service has been cut off. I've had two cases where loss of DSL was a phone company issue that they needed to fix at their office. (One following some wiring work done in apartment building, the other when service was mistakenly disconnected from the wrong customer.)

This kind of trouble can be a headache to solve, but it can be solved. Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!

I have 824 installed at my office, with three CO lines. All CO lines were working OK, but one out of them can not be selected now, and any body dialling from outside to that number gets a busy tone. In...

If the CO line works properly when disconnected from your system KSU, something in the KSU is keeping that line off-hook. If the trouble isn't caused by a phone that's holding the line, try resetting the KSU by shutting it off and unplugging it from the AC line. Reconnect the power and turn the system back on. This should clear up the problem if it was due to the controller being confused, which can sometimes happen. If the system picks the line again and holds it, check the phones for one with a stuck line select button. Then you'll need to have the KSU serviced if the trouble continues.

My HTC tatto phone has become very erratic. After every 1 second of making a call the power end menu options come up on the screen. The phone wont hang up after having pressed the "End Call" button. If I...

First, try a factory reset and see if that resolves your problem. I'm afraid that will wipe all the data on the phone, but you will have to do that anyway if you want to solve this problem.

Here are the instructions for the factory reset:

Performing a factory reset via settings
The most convenient way to do a factory reset is via the phone settings.
  1. Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings > SD card & phone storage > Factory data reset.
  2. On the Factory data reset screen, tap Reset phone, and then tap Erase everything. Your phone will erase all personal data and restart. It may take a few minutes for the process to complete.
Performing a factory reset using phone buttons
If you cannot turn on your phone or access the phone settings, you can still perform a factory reset by using the phone buttons.
  1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the HOME and BACK buttons, and then briefly press the END CALL/POWER button.
  2. Press the ENTER button to begin the reset process. (Otherwise, press the END CALL/POWER button to cancel.)

Just connected router to clear network modem and VoIP (wireless phone service), now when the phone ring, it disconnects me from the internet and the connection is lost until the phone call is complete.

Is your modem a DSL or cable modem?
If it is a DSL modem do you have a DSL filter on each phone line to the phones in your house?
The DSL modem does not need a DSL filter on the phone line.

Inadvertant slow down.

It could be an issue with the phone line in your home. Try disconnecting as many devices plugged into your phone lines as possible. Cordless phones and other phones for that matter can cause issues with signal quality even if you are using DSL filters. If you can disconnect any unused phone lines running to other rooms, that also helps. If the connection is still giving you trouble, I would call your ISP and have them check your line quality.

I need to reset my password for my Sprint HTC Touch MP6900

Hard Reset
Press and hold the TALK and END buttons, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the bottom of your device.
Release the stylus, but continue pressing the TALK and END buttons until you see the following message on the screen:This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press Action to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.
Release the TALK and END buttons, and then press ENTER on your device.
Warning! Your device will be set back to factory default settings. Please ensure any additional installed programs and/or user data have been backed up before a hard reset is performed.

Another way of clearing the device storage and reset all setings back to factory default settings is to use the Clear Storage feature. You will lose all your data and files on the device storage when you use Clear Storage, so make sure to do a backup first.

Tap Start > Settings > System tab > Clear Storage.
Enter “1234” then tap Yes.
