When i shift from park ti drive my car jolts what a/c blows hot

Hello. It seems your Ford Econoline van has a gear shift 'lever' and 'linkage' issue. The 'interlock' locking mechanism is worn on your van. When one 'slaps' and 'manhandles levers, this is what happens; especially as the vehicle ages. The speedometer cable on that van, also, needs to be replaced. Try replacing the sparkplug wires. These are all common symptoms of bad sparkplug wire on a DIS ignition system. I would also suggest changing the fuel filter. I tell all my coustomers to replace their fuel filter at every 3'rd oil change i.e. 80 to 90K. hope this helps:)

Sounds as if forward driving gears are shot. Different gears make vehicle move in reverse. I would ask if transmission fluid level when checked is in the operation range or full.

All there is is a shift cable which is probably broken if ti doesn't shift
New ones are obtained a any GM dea;erships parts department

Is there a "clunk" noise that goes along with the "jolt" ?
It is either a loose or worn, mount, or you may have a drive train problem.

You could have some play in your motor mounts. They are made of rubber and being your over 10 years old the rubber probably has shrank and is allowing the engine to shift a bit. My 2001 is doing the same.
I had someone shift it from park to drive and back to park while I watched the engine running with the hood up.

its not suppost to do that. i think it is about to fail, i have 88 and it does not make that those things. but check the engine and transsmition mounts

I am trying to understand your problem. Check engine mounts. Have a driver in the car, hood open. Start car, foot on brakes, shift from park to reverse and back again. Shift through all gears, look for unusual engine movements around engine mounts area. Left foot on brakes, press gas in drive and reverse;watch for excessive engine movements. Be careful as you perform these steps. You may also want to check drive axles. Keep me updated.
