I have a Carrier 58MVP furnace with air conditioning that will work some time but many time it will stop with a fault 41 code. I have removed the cover plate over the air condition coils and verified that there is no restriction. but with the cover plate off it does not seem to fail. I had a technician look at it and he could not see anything wrong either. He called Carrier and they told him it must be a restriction. This furnace has been installed for over 15 years. Could this be the Blower control module? Should I consider replacing the furnace?
According to the troubleshooting Guide. It is a Blower outside of valid speed range? Code 41= blower out of valid speed range. you will more than likely need a new motor module. they are not cheap 300$ to 400$. If you call a carrier or bryant tech out they should have a test module they carry on their truck that lets you know if its the furnace circuit board or motor module.
That blinking light may be the diagnostic light. Count the blinks next time it fails. Carrier units will have two different blinks depicting the error code such as one blink followed by a pause than 3 blinks giving you an error code of 13. Then look at the wiring diagram, it will have an error code chart telling you where to start with your diagnosis. You already know that if you remove the cover it erases the error code, so look thru the small window first.
There should be a code list inside the furnace panel access door. Find it and see what code 41 says, as I can't remember right off hand. Some of the possible causes could be air in gas line or low gas pressure. Could have blocked vent especialy if vented with plastic. Check for bird nest or dirt dobbers in vent. If vented with plastic could not have proper rise 1/4 per foot and have water trapped in pipe blocking vent. Is this a new problem or has this occured since installation?
Make sure all wires are hooked correctly ABCD should match. The Kill all power try again. When Infinity control is hooked up correctly it by passes all dip switch so that it can communicate with the tsta furnace and outsid unit. Rus
You can find what the error code is by looking on the inside of the bloewr panel. If it is still there after all these years there is a code list right around the wiring diagram. If my memory serves me correctly it is a limit problem. But be for sure and check the code sheet.
ecms are pretty reliable and electronic failure is much more common than bearing or bushing wearout. i suspect the fins on the blower may be coming loose from their pressed on spline and that will start a vibration or shimmy or you could have thrown a weight that balanced the wheel . best to use to warranty to get a new wheel. good luck
A code 12 is "Blower on after power-up" Try resetting the furnace with either the Emergency switch or circuit breaker. If it continues, you may need a new control board.
We had the same problem with the same furnace, CODE 32 DISPLAYED ON THE LEDS. I fixed it by cutting the air inlet pipe and using a hair dryer to supply heated combustion air to the furnace. Once I did that it started to run more and more until it finally heated the house up and works fine, so far so good.
We had a severe drop in temps, sunday it was 40 and rain and that night it dropped to -5 I suspect those conditions contributed to the problem. Wife observed this has never occurred before in 14 years of operation.
