Are you on android version 2.1? you can go to settings, about phone, and look for Firmware Version. If its 2.1 this is the latest update for this phone.
If you are at versions 2.1 the only way to get the phone to version 2.2 is to root your phone and install a custom ROM which voids your warranty.
