Some did come with Adaptive Defrost. You may need to look for a small opening through the plastic to see if you can turn the timer clockwise slowly. Sometimes there is a plastic plug covering the hole to hide the opening. But if not then unplug and take the control panel loose and have a look. I have an old Magic Chef refrigerator, model RB21B-3A. It made a clanking noise, last night like a car radiator fan hitting something. Now the edge of the freezer is hot. I have unplugged it. The freezer, and refrigerator is still cooling, but the edge of the body, at the freezer is hot!
the condenser fan underneath and behind the refrigerator may have hit something become loose or damaged its normal for the freon to pass through the cabinet and make it hot when the fan is not working properly

twist your defrost timer with a screwdriver clocwise till it will click and compressor shut off, check voltage on defrost heater. You should have 120volts.When wait 20 min if compressor start up back and defrost heater is off ...your timer is fine. It can come on early then 20 min....
P.S. defrost heater located on the bottom of the coil, also make sure your defrost thermostat is frozen when you going to check voltage on your heater. Thermostat located on the top of your coil.

I have a magic chef refrigerator and it has always worked fine but now all of the sudden the freezer has started getting frost build up in the back and then it starts to block the air flow to the refrigerator so we have to take the back of the inside of the freezer off and defrost it in order for our refrigerator to stay cold enough and recieve air flow without it being restricted by ice. We have to do defrost it about once a week. What do you think the problem may be?
Part of the model number is torn off but the part that I do have says CTB1521G
