I am having the same exact problem on an old Hobart Beta Mig 200
sometimes i can weld for 5 minutes and other times as soon as I hit the trigger it trips the 50amp breaker. Any help?
Make sure that the ground clamp is securely fastened to the workpiece.
Ensure that the power pin is fully seated into the housing where it receives the current.
Ensure that voltage and amperage settings are correct.
take side panel off where power goes into unit,check for voltage ,if not go to where plug is plugged into check for power if there is power check the crows foot to make sure all three wires are tightly screwed to terminals
you can go to any welding store(praxair,air gas)and they will be able to order the parts you request,need to get all the imfo.you can off of welder for them to be able to help you.
to find out if you need a new reostat disconnect the wires from it and put an ohm meter on it and check the ohms resistance it should read up and down ohms as you turn the dial.
