On our honeywell thermostat model RTH230B it says "filter" on it, does that mean to change the filter? I changed it a couple of months ago and I just changed it again today but it still says "filter"

What filter is the thermostat referring to? The filter to the outside air for my own benefit?

The thermostat tracks the system running time and gives notice of when the filter should be changed. It does not however have any way of knowing that you changed the filter other than for you to reset the filter notification in the thermostat's user menu. You need to reset that yourself.

Your thermostat is tracking how long your unit cycles, which may or not be your filter. It may just be really hot outside. Make sure all your registers are open too.

Have a honeywell RTH230b and this morning the display on the thermostat is flashing a house with a 4 inside the outline of the house and the heat is at 63 We had it set at 70. This is a 205 model

The Honeywell RTH230B indicates that the system is running the overnight (sleep) program with the 4 inside the house symbol. When the house flashes, the desired temperature has been changed from that programmed temperature (bypass mode). The bypass mode should only run for 2 hours.

The default programming starts the sleep period at 10 P.M. and ends at 6 A.M. On the original program in the thermostat, the temperature target was set to 62 during the heating season and 82 for the air conditioning season.

Since the thermostat was set to bypass, you should check who in your house pressed the Up/Down buttons on the thermostat to change the house temperature. Beyond that, check the start and end times and the programmed temperatures for each scheduled period. Honeywell has the manual for the RTH230B here: https://customer.honeywell.com/resources/techlit/TechLitDocuments/69-0000s/69-1800.pdf .

I hope this helps

(On my own programmable thermostat, we recently found that one period in the week had been left at the default setting. Thus the thermostat was programmed to maintain 60 degrees when we wanted 65 during the day.)

New instruction manual for RTH230B

Do you mean the Honeywell RTH230B programmable thermostat? Most of the Honeywell thermostat manuals are available here: http://yourhome.honeywell.com/en/faqs/thermostat . Scroll through the pages to find the RTH230B or use the search feature. The search engine found the installation and user guide in three different languages, see https://yourhome.honeywell.com/en/supportsearch#q=Rth230b . The direct link to the manual in English is https://customer.honeywell.com/resources/techlit/TechLitDocuments/69-0000s/69-1800.pdf .

Cool air not working with honeywell Model # RTH230B

Do you have a heat pump? If so, not compatible. What i did was move the jumper on the thermostat (RH RE). This is on the inside of the thermostat - NOT the red jumper!!! and got the AC working (the heat had already worked during the winter, problem only became apparent when I needed to use AC). I may have to change the jumper again when the season changes...not sure yet.

Honeywell rth230b won't shut off heat

Sounds like a relay sticking. Possibly in the thermostat or possibly the furnace relay at the furnace. The next time it happens, unplug the thermostat from the wall. If the furnace still runs then it's the furnace relay.

Hope that helps...
