We use well water . after washing tower 2 or 3 days of use tower it starts to smell musty .how do we prevent this?

When a moldy or musty smell develops in a washing machine, many times the smell is coming from the open areas of the agitator. Water along with soap and/or liquid softener sometimes splashes into an open agitator, and when the lid is closed it does not dry out. Instead, mold begins to form, and a musty smell wafts from inside the machine, even after the lid has been opened for an extended period of time. Until the mold is removed the washing machine will continue to smell bad, even if it is used and allowed to air dry with the lid open.The tub can also be the source of the smell. Lint can gather and collect in the holes, and when it does not dry fast enough it ends up smelling musty and moldy. Even the top of the rim can become moldy and musty, but proper cleaning can get rid of the odor.

So that said.To clean the machine,fill to just above the top row of holes in the tub.Add 2 cups of bleach.Let sit for 1-2 hours.Then let the machine run it`s wash cycle.Lastly use bleach water and a rag to wipe the machine down inside and out.If the agitator has a cup on top remove and clean with bleach.Leave the top open so the machine can dry.

Now it should smell better,if so use as normal,and leave the lid open when not in use.

the water in the unit is normal, to kill the smell when you are done doing wash for the day dampen a rag with bleach and whip down the door gasket. You can buy a cleaner called "afresh" it works as well. If your unit is a neptune check with maytag it might have a recall on the door gasket for growing mould

If you know someone who owns a bar, ask them for about 1/2 pt of line cleaning fluid. Start your machine on a 60o wash (empty) and as soon as the water starts flowing into the powder drawer, slowly pour the line cleaner into the water flow. Let the machine go through it's normal cycle, then run the same cycle programme as soon as you can (immediatly if possible) using clean water. Following this action, get your finger and rub it along the inside of the drum, if it's squeekly clean it's solved, if it feels slightly slimely, run the water only wash again the completly to remove any further residue of the cleaner. Do a boil wash without clothes & detergents, with a cup of bicarbonate of soda in the soap drawer.

Make shure to do a cleaning cycle. As well, wipe out the inside, the rubber gasket and the door when done washing for the day. We also have found that
leaving the door "Open" for several hours, when finnished, eliminates any future
smells.

clogged water screens , defective water level pressure switch , clogged drain, kinked drain hose ,. defective water pump , defective water tempeerture switch, damaged water valve solenoid , water inlet valve has an interal malfunction

probaly a good wash with chlorine bleach..fill tub with hot water pour 2-3 cups bleach let agitate for few mins stop machine and let set 20-30 mins restart and let finish cycle ..to head of future problem leave lid open between uses

Washer tub is probably very dirty from excess soap suds.  These washers have no way of cleaning rinsing themselves off so they will have to be disassembled and cleaned out to remove the odor.  That's about a 2 to 3 hour job.  Be sure to replace the rubber seal and the shaft seal to prevent leaks.

Check your water softener(If so equipped). This can cause foul odors in the water supply if not properly balanced or maintained. Good luck!

There is a product called "Nilodour" a very concentrated liquid.. that elliminates smells etc, ya put a few drops into an empty wash (ie only water) cycle and flush.
