my problem turned out to be a wrong input. 2 days of frustration
I really did think i had it set right so i double checked.

SOURCE: i have an Element ELEFT502 50 HD Digital tv. I am trying to connect my cable line to the TV but cannot get the past the auto scan screen

put the co axel cable in the back , bypass this tv programming stuff put your tv on channel 3 or 4 and use the cable remote , no tv channels just cable

See if another set works there to make sure that the cable is providing signal. If it is then the tuner on set is fubar - you can always get an external tuner and plug it into your set's audio/video input or HDMI or whatever you got.

Why does my element tv say please run channel auto scan
Because there are no channels saved in the tuner's memory. If the TV cannot see a TV signal at the antenna input, you'll get that message.

My TV will say "Please Run Channel Auto Scan" and I do. It picks up more than 130 channels, but once the scan is done, the screen turns blue again and says "Please Run Channel Auto Scan".

May be there are some out of frequency channels. Go to searching menu option and use manual tuning for personally. Auto scan for all channels.

you need to select cable from off your remote and run the auto scan.even if it says you does not need to run auto scan still run the auto scan.good luck.
