I have never used a program like this before--they told me it would be easy-I can't seem to make anything happen--

this seems like a keyboard (or mouse) error... when this happens try to detach your keyboard and mouse to see if this stops.

The blue screen seems to happen when you change the batteries (it's what happened to us). The blue screen indicates that there's a software problem, like when you boot up your computer and for some reason it freezes up. That software needs to be reinstalled. You'll lose anything that was saved on the v.reader, but at least you'll get it working again.

vtech could have made it a very simple problem to solve just by adding in their customer support: Blue Screen? follow these steps. But they don't, so here's how:

You'll need an SD card with at least 64mo of free space. If you want to use the one from your digital camera, transfert all of your pictures to your computer first. Everything on the SD card will be erased.

Download the Recovery software from either link below (you can find both on the vtech website, but it took me a while to get there)

For the US version

Run the program and follow the instructions (at least those are clear and easy to follow). Mine worked fine after that. And since there's no reset button on the v.reader, this is the only way to erase the 100+ drawings that your child saved.

HTML is an amazingly easy programming language which you can learn in a few weeks. Read some books/guides, use https://en.archivarix.com/ to get copies of some websites and look at how they are made, try to tweak something and look what happens. That way you'll learn quite fast.

Common problem with easy solution:

Go into the customer menu and look at section marked CLOSED CAPTIONS.

You will find aside from CC a choice for "TEXT"; THIS was a feature so books and text could be transmitted from programs like PBS but it never to my experience happened.

You need to either select off or move the TEXT 1 to 2,3,4 etc.

TEXT 1 SHOULD BE THE ONLY ONE ACTIVE.

SD TECH

yes it is,,read the book that come with thi safe first, it may be an easy job, then again it may not be as some electronic saf's need to be re-programed using an e-prom setter,,,and you wont have one of them hanging around! why do you need to reset the safe? have you told some body the combo? if its a gun safe with guns inside of it,,,
some body as well as you should know the combo,,,you never know if any thing happens to you who needs to open the safe????

It could also be wires if they haven't been changed recently. An easy fix would be to spray the wires and cap with RustCheck or WD-40. If you use RustCheck get the red can. Either will temporarily seal you electrical system from water. You can do them separately to try and pinpoint the problem or all together. Don't forget the coil leads and the coil itself. Hope this helps.

that might be due to the drive being formatted as Fat32 which has a file size limitation of 4 Gig..open up my computer, and look at the properties of that drive..right click..and that might help you

skip the whole process and buy a sd memory card reader-it's plug and play- no software and will save your batterys when you download-they work great and bypass the issues your having-plug into usb port and will download to xp or vista
