Camera will not power up

This camera will not power up. Nothing shows on the screen. It is dead. It has been charged, goes from red to green as it is supposed to...makes no difference...will not power up. Battery terminals look fine. Any ideas?

My ixus 55 has exactly the same problem.
I've taken the body apart but can't see anything visually wrong with it.
It's definitely not the batteries (as tried new ones etc), but it's weird how nothing powers at all. I thought it was the motor for the lens that usually go first on small compacts, but this is a new one to me.

I had the same experience after drying out my elph sd450. I sprayed contact cleaner into the battery cavity and reinserted the battery. The camera came back to life as if by magic. If you buy a contact cleaner, test it on something to make sure it doesn't melt the plastic. I would suggest puting some contact cleaner on a q-tip and wiping the contacts on both the camera side and the battery. I sill notice that the camera balks sometimes upon re-insertion of the battery, so I do the contact wipe again, and it seems to do the job.

FLipSHARE software isn't compatible with Vista Aero and some other visual settings, SO, when you plug in your Fllip camera, the FlipShare software changes your desktop settings to go with their camera. They should go back to how you had visuals set before the camera was plugged in once you remove the camcorder. No green light shows when charged, a Red light shows up and glows during charge and when the red light goes out it is fully charged.

Just got a new battery off Ebay..Installed in the camera and a red light came on..Does that mean that its charging or does a green light means that its charging?..Does the red light suppose to go off and...

Answered this one earlier-

The manual says that a red light is a charging error. Green means it is charging and the light goes out when charging is complete.

The camera must be turned off when charging the battery. They recommend a full 8 hour charge for a new battery, then allow it to discharge completely (leave the camera on I guess) and charge it again "before use".

You can download the manual from this page. Select the "Resources" tab.

Battery level

As Suzaku explained:
A battery icon will show up on the LCD screen of your camera when it is already low and needs recharging. It can be found at the lower right side of your LCD screen. The ready light of your camera will also blink red and your camera will turn off if the battery is exhausted.
NOTE:
The icon will not appear if the batery is sufficient and there is no TECH way of making the icon show until the batt needs charging.

G2 PowerShot Power Problem

When you're charging the camera, make sure the power switch is set to OFF. We've run into the same thing- we could plug it in for days, but it won't charge at all if the power switch is on.

Hope that helps.
