Even when your camera has an internal memory, it only could save up to about 3 pictures. But most modern camera's not even allow you to retrieve the last picture.
Pleaase for a more accurate answer, give more details about device name, brand. and model of everything related.

Put memort card in camera,,didn't realize I had to format disc.followed instructions in book to format but does not tell me it is formatting,,, still get unsupported card message

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common cause is having the tiny slide switch on the side of the card in the wrong position. The second most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Please note that your particular model camera can only use up to 2GB standard SD cards. These are relatively inexpensive these days, and may be purchased on Amazon if your local store no longer carries them. There are also other common causes if the above didn't help, with troubleshooting steps for this problem listed here.

Retrieval of pictures taken without a memory card

When you take pictures on anyy digital camera, the picture is stored onto the memory card. In your case, since the memory card was full, the picture was deleted the second you stopped looking at it. (from when you took it) I would try uplinking the camera to a computer to see it the pictures somehow made it to the camera, but other than that im sorry.

Panasonic DMC-TZ3: one day it's working fine, next it won't power on. Tried the "Power Saver" reset technique posted ... didn't work. Battery is fully-charged.

Hello
Try removing the battery and the memory card for 1 minute then return them back. Make sure the battery is inserted properly. If that didn't work, try turning it on without the memory card.

Did you get any error message when you try to turn on your camera?

I took alot of pictures recently..seemed to be working fine and they didn't download to my memory card...are they in my D5o Nikon somewhere..

Sorry, no. The camera is entirely reliant on the memory card to store images.

Either the camera or the memory card is faulty. Try another known good memory card to work out out which item is at fault. If it's the camera then it needs professional repairs, if it's the memory card then buy another.

Never, ever, format your memory card in a computer or external card reader, reformatting should only ever be done in-camera with a fully-charged battery.

Cant take pictures with memory card in

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.
