4 stroke Yamaha 50HP -Runs rough at all throttle levels

1993 Yamaha 4 stroke - 50 HP It runs very rough at all throttle speeds. It acts like it is missing spark on one cylinder but there seems to be spark at all of the cylinders. Is this a gas flow problem then? What is the process of elimination for the cause of the problem.

Thanks

The plugs were all sparking but I will be buying new ones tomarrow and giving them a try. Your right about it often being the problem and it is the easiest fix to try.

If it has the old points system you will need to set the points also adjust the carburatior screw the screws all the way in and back out 2 1/2 turns then get it to run turn the air mixture screws till it runs smooth. you want it slightly lean then enrichen it slightly, afterword shut the engine down and look at the plugs if they are gray black they are ok. good luck.

Yamaha 50 outboard bogs at hi speed

Make sure carbs are clean, check exhaust tube isn't blocked, check resistance readings on charge coil, make sure filters are clean,no fuel leaks in fuel line, tank has open breather, fuel connector not blocked.if this doesn't solve the problem could be faulty cdi unit

115hp 1985 yamaha outboard 6e5 AETO running at low revs as if on 3 cylinders,on low revs only when i accelerate it goes well and fast without issues, when i slow to trolling speeds it runs a bit rough...

sounds like a bad coil or trigger. Find the offending cylinder with a timing light and physically move the coil to a good firing cylinder. If the problem follows the coil, you have it, if not you need a trigger,

My Yamaha 4 stroke 50hp engine was running fine. When i went to replace the cover, the water stopped running through the "pee" hole.

i have had this on mine and it was a sort of insect that made a mud nest in the small hole and it blocked the hole up ,try poking it out with a bit of wire

I have a 50hp 2007 yamaha 2 stroke

Did you change your fuel? If you are trying to use the same fuel from last year without being stabilized then that would cause your problem. I know that you already had your carbs cleaned but it sounds like something els got plugged up in them. If you have fresh fuel then I would take the carbs back apart and check your jets in the carb to ensure that there is nothing obstructing any of the orifaces in the jets. I am a boat mechanic and I have had to take carbs apart 2-3 times sometimes if they were varnished really bad to make sure I got all of the gunk out.
