Double checked the monitor on another computer with the same results. Power button still blinks and no image on screen. Checked the refresh rate and it was set at 60 hZ. Resolution is what it has always been.

Tried hitting all sorts of keys to get it out of power saving mode if it was in it, but no luck.

Hooked another CRT monitor up and it displayed fine. Used it to check refresh rates and resolutions as stated. Once I hooked the LCD back up , nothing just blinking power button with no image.

Thanks for your time and input

I have the same identical problem after my monitor was only about 8 months old. I tried everything that I could think of, with no results.

    Thanks for any helpful information!

  • Anonymous Dec 16, 2007

I've only been at it a few minutes. Just unplugged, tried 'Menu' button, nothing.

  • Bottis Feb 12, 2008

Same problem with a Samsung SyncMaster 206BW.

  • Christian2 Feb 17, 2008

The same problem. It seems to have taken the deep sleep. Nothing wakes it up. It wont even show the startup screen on reboot. It needs a new lcd controller board but where do you get one?

  • Anonymous Mar 12, 2008

Yep, same thing here too. Didn't do anything wrong. Just one day it decided to blink instead of come on. It doesn't respond to any sequence of button pushing. I guess Samsun just has a faulty component in this model.

8 Samsung 204b monitors running 7/24, 5 of the 8 dead with blinking power LED in less than a year and one blinking backlight on startup. Pulled last 3 monitors because I don't like after hours calls replaced with non Samsung monitors no problems. We have close to 400 LCD displays at this site and the 8 Samsung had more failures during the last year than all of the other LCD displays combined.

  • Anonymous May 28, 2008

After my computer has been running for about 10 minutes, the monitor says no signal and stops working. After restarting, it starts working again, but also stops working in 10 minutes.

  • Anonymous Sep 04, 2008

Same problem. After 11 months of pretty much 24/7 use, it wont display anything - only blue flashing light.

  • Anonymous Jan 08, 2009

I have the same issue with my 203b. Aargh!

  • Anonymous Jan 15, 2009

The flashing blue power indicator light seems to be a fairly common problem. Got 9 mos. service out of new 204B and the problem occured.

Samsung offered to swap out with a refurb--$0 cost to me. Fast forward another 10 months---same problem again. Looks like I'll be swapping out with them two or three more times before the 3 year parts/labor warranty expires. Seems like they're replacing a junk part with another junk part. The term "refurbished" doesn't spell out the number of times a unit has been refurbished, does it?

  • jazekid Mar 06, 2009

I am on my fourth monitor. I have my computer and monitor on 24/7. I do have the monitor going to sleep but after 8-9 months same problem. Starts to go dim, flicker, and then black screen. I have a few more months left on my warranty, so maybe I may get to my 5th when this is all said and done.

  • Anonymous Mar 30, 2009

These monitors are junk. I purchased 2 at the same time to operate as a pair in a dual monitor setup. Within the first few months one monitor developed a solid black line across the screen. 6 months of doing the rope-a-dope at Best Buy resulted in a replacement monitor.

At approximately the 1 year mark the 2nd monitor just went black and stopped working. No blinking power light...nothing. Samsung was pretty timely about getting me a no cost replacement. That was about 6-8 months ago.

10 minutes ago one of the two monitors went black and the blue power light is blinking. At this point I will take the free replacement, but I'm going to buy a quality widescreen monitor for my primary workstation and move these crappy Samsungs to non-essential machines, and I will never buy another Samsung video product.

Blinking blue light with no display even when hooked up to another computer. It does not even display the "no signal" box.

First of all plug another monitor to the VC on your PC and do the same for the SamSung"I over heat"SyncMaster2 053BW.
Oct 23, 2009 - This is how it went for me..I have a Samsung SYNCMASTERSyncmaster paower button blinking and no display - 2.gif 2053BW. I leave my monitor on and let it hybernate when I shut down PC. I'm 3 months outside of my warranty. Two weeks ago something started happening. I boot PC and video doesn't come up for 10 minutes, and when it came up it worked perfect. VC/Monitor/MB?? It became 20 minutes and ...now..I have the analog/digital box in top left screen, power light on monitor flashing, no menu available on monitor and none of the other buttons work for anything. I test the monitor on Laptop..nothing(same as above)..I break out the old(working) monitor from deep within the closet. Plug it in and I'm up and running. So...

HOW TO OPEN A SYNCMASTER 2053BW

NO SCREWS!!! Assuming that the stand mount has been pulled out..The seam around the screen frame is where you start. The frame has the prongs, the back cover has what the prongs slip over. The frame is coming off first! I got the side to open by finger, then used a small standard screwdriver to pry ever so gently(lifting frame from rearcover). Leave the power button assembly on the frame, pull wire only a little to relax any tension..you get about 3/4" in extra taped to panel. The hard part is done.;) Still holding the frame...Now lift the panel (where the power button assembly wiring goes under panel) with the power housing that is under it as a whole and you will see where the powerbuttonassemble detaches.Remove frame. Now..holding edges of panel into back cover, lift and flip the whole thing over and place panel face down on a perfectly flat surface..a towel on my desk works. Lift and remove back cover.Your now looking at the back of the board housing. The ribon is simple, on the panel end of the ribon, squeez the outer clips together and slide it away against the panel..The secondary tin plate is removable, two clips super close to where the sets of wires come around the housing and into the panel.Unhook the 4 plugs(pink inside/blue outside)...Now lift the power housing off of the panel. The big board has the power. One screw to remove a ground plate first. Two screws to remove power board. aae8fab.jpg
Reassemble but DO NOT re-snap the frame into place....yet... Test it! There is a reason the caps got hot in the first place, therfore it has a good chance of happening again. This is not fullproof...but.....mine has been on now for close to 6 hours with no glitches whatsoever. So I have resnapped mine back together. I hope you can too. - I must also add that this is one of the best producing monitors I have ever seen...in 60hz. The clarity is top notch. If you purchase one get the extended warranty. FYI...I paid $4.00 for those caps.

not connected and blacks out when I connect a input from laptop or TV tuner through VGA port, If I change the input resolution the screen turn in to strange Blue colors and some time displays blue screen totally, but picture wont come.

Can some body help how to fix this?

The Power LED Is Blinking But No images Appear On The Screen. Syncmaster paower button blinking and no display - spacer.gif If the power LED on your LCD monitor is blinking and you have no images on the screen, either the monitor is in Power Saving mode, or you've inadvertently set your video card to a refresh rate and/or a resolution your monitor can't handle. Both problems are addressed below.
Power Saving Mode To get your monitor out of Power Saving mode, press a key on the keyboard to activate the monitor and restore the image to the screen. If there is still no image and your monitor has a Source button, press the Source button. Then, press any key on the keyboard again to activate the monitor and restore the image on the screen. If this does not work, go to the section on changing the refresh rate and/or resolution below.
Changing the Refresh Rate and/or Resolution The optimum refresh rate for all Samsung LCD monitors is 60 Hz. The optimum resolution varies according to monitor size. The chart below shows the optimum resolutions for Samsung monitors by size.
Monitor Size
Optimum Resolution
15 to 16 inches
1024x768
17 to 19 inches
1280x1024
20 to 23 inches
1600x1200
24 inches
1920x1200

I have a Syncmaster 204B which had the same problem, I followed these instructions, and sure enough the same two caps were vented. I replaced them with new ones (using 1000 µF instead of 820 µF as it was all I could find and the guy at the electronics store told me that there was a wide tolerance. It is now working like new.
Thank you for the tip!

(Samsung SyncMaster 204B) Flashing Power Button

Im having the same problem. I go into work one day and the monitor is black and the blue power button just blinks consistantly. i can even hear the electrical frequency beating as well.

no settings were changed, no trauma was given.

ive taken the monitor home and hooked it up to my gaming PC which works fine. Set the Nvidia settings to dual monitor, it reconized the 904B yet it remains pictureless with the flashing light. only change made was it went from an Analog VGA connection to DVI. same issue.

When it have this kind of error is a problem of the powerboard.
Anyway you must open it and look at the all capacitors and if are them inflated, if them are inflated must change them.

But can be a problem with inverters... control the transistors - MOSFET on the powerboard.

Good luck!

Ultimately I had to return the monitor to Best Buy where I Originaly purchased it. Luckily I had purchased it between Thanksgiving and Christmas when the the store had a 1 yr exchange policy. They had to send it back to " have a card replaced" ( They're words). Took about 3wks to get it back no charge. Seems to work fine for now but who knows how long this will last. Will probably be my lasy Samsung

ONLY BLINKING POWER BUTTON ON THE DMONITOR. NOTHING ELSE IS THERE.

Hello,

This is a common problem with the Samsung 204B units that have been in service for a few years. Parts called capacitors in the power supply start failing and causing the board to not start correctly. The blinking power button is just the power supply restarting over and over. The monitor is easily repairable, you just need to replace the 5 capacitors that have failed. Here is a link to a page that shows how to open the monitor, get to the power supply board and what to replace.

Replace the screen with a known working one. If it shows display then it is the screen which is broken, if not, then it could be the port on which it is connected.

Have you tried to plug it in else where?
If you did and still same problem then from what you said I was hopping that it wouldn't be your problem, but you will need a new monitor.
