It made a 'pop' sound while watching it, and then the picture went out. It still gets power, the little red light is on, however, when you plug it in, it just makes a clicking noise every few seconds, and nothing happens when you press the power button to turn it on. I took the back off, looked at it, there are no bulged/damaged capacitors, and the fuses are still working continuity checked. Please advise what you think the diagnosis and repair is. Thanks.

Your LCD has gone bad or their is a high voltage problem that powers the LCD. Usually a inverter board.

I have the same problem. since I have 3 of these TV's, I switched boards around, and I came to the conclution that is the power board. I will try to repair it, and I'll let you know the component that is bad. Gaston

Did anyone find out the solution for this??????? I have the exact same problem with my LG 32 LCD. I only had it for a year and a half, and the green light blinks a few times and it shows no picture. Not even a red light when the tv is off. The same thing happened a couple weeks ago and by some miracle it started working again.

Check the power supply module for bad caps, Q7,and ZD4.

Hi.
If there are very faint picture in background, then the back light system is not working. That means that problem is either inverter powering the lamps with AC, main controller board managing the inverter, or PSU providing primary DC voltage to the inverter.
In your case the PSU was defective. The damage may have concerned more components apart the capacitors (resistors, more capacitors, solder joints etc.). Testing is done tracking voltage to inverter. The first thing to test is voltage to inverter from PSU. A general procedure is described here.
This test is done reading the DC voltage from the PSU to main controller. A malfunctioning controller board may not turn on inverter. Voltage in input and high voltage on inverter must also be checked. Voltages to check are 120VDC at CN801 on IP board (inverter power board) and DC B13V,B12V,B5V Voltages at BD105L,C1261,BD101 on PSU. For safety reasons testing with power on must be done by a trained person.
To make things easier, the whole service documentation has been uploaded here.
Here parts for this TV.
Regards.
