Go to Printers and Faxes, right click on the printer icon and select Printer Properties.
then select the paper type as LTR.
If in case you do not get the option, re-install the printer drivers.
1) unplug machine from power supply. 2) Under printer properties, select custom paper size and set it on A4 if you use A4. 3) Power on the machine and then try to print.
You have to cancel the fax. If its saying that then the paper sent to you was a legal sixe 8.5x14 and needs that type paper to receive the fax. Some faxes have legal trays and A4 but most don't.

Set the paper size setting to A4, letter or
legal and load paper of the same size.
Set the paper type setting to PLAIN.
Go to the Control Panel, open Printers and Faxes, right click on the icon for your Canon, choose Properties.
Since the offered settings can differ from one model to another, you may have to look at any tabs shown to find the default setting for paper type but it will probably be under 'Advanced.'
Check through the various settings and you should find settings influencing which paper size the printer should use and expect.
Maybe you pushed the small button on the left "two sided"...I did and got the same reading...I pushed it again to return. I think that is what happened...
