There is a inverter next to the screen under the plastics either below the screen or next to it. This sounds like a bad transformer witch is located on the inverter board. They can be ordered on line or through most laptop stores. They are not hard to change but a common problem. make sure you know what you are doing before you attemp this. Thanks

Sounds like you've entered the "service mode" where you're seeing the chroma (color) signal only.
What type of connectors are the F and S? RCA? F?
This set is no longer made which makes it hard to research. By any chance, is there a small switch on the back that says "normal - service"?
