Make sure that when you do the vinegar solution, you do at least 4 cups of white vinegar, and fill it up the rest of the way (max fill line) with water. The manual says to "fill to capacity with a mixture of 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water," which lots of people misunderstand, and think it means "1/3 CUP vinegar and 2/3 CUP water," which is not the case. It means 1/3 of your 12 cups (and 1/3 times 12 is 4 cups) of vinegar, and 2/3 of your 12 cups (aka, fill it up the rest of the way) of water.

You might have to let it soak for an hour before you try to brew it--this lets the vinegar work at the calcium buildup a LOT better (kind of like soaking your pots and pans before you try to clean them), but it should definitely work for you. If not, call Cuisinart's tech support (1 800 726 0190) and they might be able to get you a replacement :)

SOURCE: The "Brew Pause" feature doesn't work

It's the spring part on the bottom of that black basket. Now that it's broken there's really no fixing it. The only thing to do is call the manufacturer (800-726-0190) to get a new brew basket. They are open on weekends, so you could call them today and see what they can do (brew baskets are covered under the 3 year warranty, btw). Just have your model and serial number and you can probably have a new one ordered in less than 5 minutes. :)

Testimonial: "Very helpful suggestion to call the manufacturer. I was told to try the self-cleaning, as calcium deposits could be the problem. worked like a charm."

Run a 1/2 pot of vinegar through it 2-3 times (I reuse it) and then run water 1-2 times to get the vinegar smell out. This cleans the mineral deposits from your water that are clogging it.

I cannot get my coffeemaker to brew. Do i need to replace filter before it will brew, or clean with vinegar?

Run a couple cups of white vinegar through it (just like you were making coffee). Don't use a filter. You can use the same vinegar over again if necessary.
If calcium build-up is the problem, you will see lots of little flakes in the used vinegar. Continue running vinegar through it until you are sure the flakes have stopped, then run a couple full pots of water through it before you try making coffee.

Will not process the water to make coffee

the coffe maker might be clogged up so here' what to do: Look through the clear plastic panel on the side of the coffee maker's water tank to make sure that it has water in it.
  • Clean your Sunbeam coffee maker, You can wash the removable filter basket and carafe in hot, soapy water and pour 4 cups of white vinegar into the water reservoir of your coffee maker. Start the brewing cycle with no coffee grounds to allow the vinegar to clean the inside of the coffee maker. Rinse away the vinegar by running the brewing cycle twice with only clean, fresh water.
  • 8 Check the removable filter basket to see if the filter has collapsed if you find coffee grounds in your brewed coffee. If the paper filters collapse often you can wet them before you place them inside the filter basket so that they will stick to the basket and stay in place. or check this link because it might need a new hose. This morning when my wife went to make coffee. The clean light came on. we couldn't get it to shut off. She went through the clean cycle. The light came back on again. What should we do ?? Mr. Coffee...

I know this sounds like a pain but it takes a while to get that silly light to stop.
If you have problems call the 1-800 number below.
Decalcifying your MR. COFFEE® Coffeemaker Minerals (calcium/limestone) found
in water will leave deposits in your coffeemaker and affect its performance. It's
recommended that you regularly remove these deposits using MR. COFFEE® Cleaner
or vinegar. MR. COFFEE® Cleaner is available at many retail stores or by calling the MR.
COFFEE® Consumer Service Department at 1-800-MR COFFEE (1-800-672-6333).
    1. Follow package instructions to prepare one batch of MR. COFFEE® Cleaner. Pour the
mixture into the water reservoir. Before decalcifying, remove the water filtration disk
    from the machine.
NOTE: 4 cups or 20 fl. oz. of undiluted, white household vinegar may be used as a
    substitute for the cleaner.
    2. Place an empty MR. COFFEE® 10-12 cup basket-style paper filter
or MR. COFFEE® permanent filter into the filter basket and slide
    the brew basket in place.
    3. Place the empty decanter back in the unit.
    4. Press the CLEAN button until the CLEAN indicator light turns on
(Figure 9). For your convenience the cleaning cycle is automatic.
The entire cycle will take 45-60 minutes to complete.
During the cleaning your coffeemaker will:
    a. Slow brew approx. 3 cups of cleaning solution.
    b. Pause for 30 minutes (the CLEAN light will remain on to alert
you that the process is active).
    c. After 30 minutes, your coffeemaker will brew the remainder of the cleaning
    solution.
    d. When complete, the CLEAN light will turn off and your coffeemaker will turn off.
    5. Discard the cleaning solution and rinse the decanter thoroughly with clean water.
    6. Fill the water reservoir with clean, fresh water.
    7. Place the empty decanter back on the coffeemaker.
    8. Remove and discard the paper filter used during the cleaning cycle. If a Mr. Coffee®
permanent filter was used during cleaning, remove it and rinse it thoroughly before
replacing it in the filter basket.
    9. Begin brewing and allow the full brew cycle to complete.
    10. Repeat steps 5 through 9 one more time.

What does it mean when the brew light flashes?

Pot needs cleaning. Fill reservoir with 4 cups of vinegar. Press the SELECT button until the red CLEAN indicator light turns on. Let it perk through. It will take 45-60 minutes. It brews a few cups, stops and then should brew the remainder of the vinegar. When the cycle is complete the light will burn off and the coffeemaker will turn off. Discard vinegar solution and run a couple of pots of clear water through. Hope this helps.

I lost my manual on how to use the self cleaning on my cuisinart coffee machine

    Decalcification
Decalcification refers to the removal of calcium
deposits which form over time on the metal
    parts of the coffeemaker.
For best performance from your Brew Central
Thermal™ Coffeemaker, decalcify the base unit
from time to time. The frequency depends upon
the hardness of your tap water and how often
you use the coffeemaker. The flashing Clean
light will indicate when you should clean your
    coffeemaker.
If the Clean light begins to flash when the
coffeemaker is turned on, it is telling you that
the calcium buildup is interfering with the
functioning of your coffeemaker and the flavor
of your coffee. To clean, fill the water reservoir to
capacity with a mixture of ¹⁄³ white vinegar and
²⁄³ water. Press the Clean button. When the self
clean light glows, turn the coffeemaker on by
pressing the on/off button. The Clean light will
shine steadily. The coffeemaker is now in Clean
mode. One cycle should be sufficient to
adequately clean the coffeemaker. When the
cycle is completed and the five beeps sound,
the coffeemaker will shut off. Turn the
coffeemaker ON to see if the Clean light
continues to flash. If it does, turn it to OFF and
then repeat the cleaning procedure with a fresh
    solution of vinegar and water.
If the Clean light no longer flashes, turn the
coffeemaker to OFF and then run one cycle of
fresh cold water through the unit before using
the unit again to brew coffee.
Notes on the Clean F unction
Pressing the Clean button cancels all other
settings. If it is pressed accidentally, press it
again to return the coffeemaker to all its
previous settings. Pressing ON/OFF will also exit
the Clean Mode and turn the coffeemaker OFF.

    Cuisinart coffeemaker won't brew

A common problem that can occur with the Cuisinart coffee maker is it will stop brewing, even when there is water ready to be transformed into coffee. The machine still turns on and works like it should, but does not continue brewing an entire pot of coffee, and acts like it has finished brewing even when there is still water sitting in the bin. This type of problem is pretty common among various coffee makers, and usually occurs when there is a problem inside the machine.
One of the best ways to fix this problem is by flushing the coffee maker out with a vinegar solution, which can be made with equal parts of vinegar and water. It should be poured in the same place as the water that is ready to be brewed, and will help to clear out the machine and make it ready to start brewing again. This problem is usually caused by calcium building up within the machine, and the vinegar helps to clear out any blockage to help it start running smoothly again.

The ''clean'' light is on my cusinart coffee maker

Let a half caraffe worth of distilled white vinegar sit in the water reservoir for about an hour. After the hour, turn the coffeemaker on and let it brew the vinegar until a small amount of vinegar appears in the caraffe. turn the coffeemaker off and let it sit for an additional 20 minutes. Then turn the coffeemaker back on and let it brew the rest of the vinegar. Then run a full caraffe of plain water to flush the vinegar out. If the self-clean light remians on - unplug the coffeemaker for 20 minutes or longer - if you unplug it for any less than 15 minutes, the coffeemaker will not reset itself. You should be good after that - as long as you do some sort of vinegar/water cleaning once a month henceforth.

Cuisinart DCC2000 quits brewing after 1or 2 cups

Finally, I got my coffee pot to run through without stopping several times. To fix it I had to run vinegar through eight times! Never before has it taken so many cycles to clean out a pot. It is still spluttering a bit so today I am going to get more vinegar or maybe even CLR and run it through a few more times.
