The Pentax MZ-6 had no sign of current while switching it on.

I changed the battery. Nothin happened. Then i rolled every dial inti all directions. The old battery was 2 volts the new 3.1 volts. I opened the film back in a dark room and closed it again. No sign of life. Shoud i open the bottom plate for inspecting loose contacts. The camera has been in a dry room.

Send it in for a repair if it's worth to you. There can be quite a lot of things wrong with the electronics.

SOURCE: Pentax zx-50 Shutter Problems?

I really think this is the classic zx - 50 shutter motor problem : small motor on the side of the mirror box is not cocking the shutter . This is very repairable but unfortunately it requires fair amount stripping down of the camera to get to the fault and so you will have to take it in for repairs.

SOURCE: Film advance lever

Yes this is fairly common with K 1000 and the Spotmatics : although the shutter is cocked and hence you cannot advance film you cannot release shutter because mirror box is not cocked. Remedy : remove bottom cover and locate mirror box lever which protrudes slightely and is movable up and down and is spring loaded. Move upwards until it licks in position ( moving up against spring tension ). Now release the shutter and camera should let you advance the film .

SOURCE: Over exsposed pictures from my pentax me Super

Hi Pete,

Say you're using ASA/ISO 100 film:
Photos come out overexposed and you were shooting in A or S or P modes.
Just set your ASA/ISO to 200: this will gives one stop less and images will be correct.

SOURCE: shutter

kirstyanne00,

open the film door and check the shutter blades. did you accidentally push the blades in when loading the film? if so take the camera to a camera repair shop, the technician may be able to reset the blades while you wait.
or send it to pentax repair center for an estimate cost to repair.

Wont turn on

Hello,
I assumed that you loaded a fresh battery set and with correct polarity ,otherwise it does give such signal.
If you have the user manual, please check the other alternatives on trouble shooting section.
If you do not have a user manual you can visit the site below where instruction manual copies for Pentax,
www.pentax-manuals.com

It's not an official site, but the manuals for downloading are better quality copies and in color
where possible: and they have the MZ30 too.

Camera shoots all the film then rewinds.

Repair would be at least $139 from Blue Moon Camera. I would buy another MZ-50 (ZX-50 is the same) off eBay or you could buy a ZX-30 from Blue Moon Camera for $75 with 1 year warranty. They are professional.

Camera makes noises direct after inserting new

I'd be worried if it didn't. It's completely normal on the MZ-7.

PENTAX mz 50 I WAS TAKING A PICTURE WITHOUIT ROLL

Just a guess, but it sounds like the shutter is stuck in the closed position. Maybe you can have the camera serviced. Try to find an online film enthusiast club, such as on Facebook and elsewhere. They might be able to direct you to where you can have your camera serviced. I can tell you that the cost of that camera is about $100 used, and repair might be the same price, so it might be better to buy another one off eBay. They have MZ-50 models for sale and lots of others. Film gear is cheap these days, but repair is not cheap. Better to buy another camera. I'm sorry about your problem and hope you can resolve it. If this was 10 years ago, you'd have a warranty and could have it fixed, but these days it's just easier to buy another camera and probably the same price or cheaper to buy another used/second-hand camera than to pay for repair. Good luck to you.

Pentax MZ-60 very ******* batteries

steve_macint,

the camera has a short circuit. if the camera got wet or was in very high humidity the flex circuit is shorting . take or send your MZ60 to a camera repair shop for an estimate. if the camera has liquid damage they most likely will not repair it.
however if it's just a component part it's fixable.
the battery drain will worsen as the short increases.

Won't play

If you had your headphones connected via the in-line remote control, then try connecting them directly to the player.

If this doesn't work then your player is effectively a spare parts donor: buy another one as good used ones are dirt cheap, even the top of the line and fantastic MZ-N910.

The mirror is halfway up, and will not move when you actuate the shutter, for my Pentax MZ-30. Any button I push or switch I move, makes the camera make a whinning sound and nothing happens.

Try to remove the battery with the camera in "OFF" then reinstall the battery (make sure the camera is off) and set your top right dial to the "P" (Pict position). Make sure the switch to the lower right front of the lens mount is set in AF. The n power the camera body back on. This should resolve the problem.

If not there may be a foreign material jamming the mirror.

Pentax MZ 50 film winding problem

Well, I'm not a camera repairman, but it sounds to me (and probably to you too) that the electronics are damaged or perhaps there's dust in the contacts inside. I also have an MZ-50. There's so many electronics involved and they don't age so gracefully. I would consider buying another one off eBay or you can get a ZX-30 (same as MZ-30) for $75 from Blue Moon Camera & Machine with a 1 year warranty (parts and labor). The best way would be, in my opinion, to get a manual, mechanical camera from the 1970s and put a good lens on it. Those seem to last forever. No electronics to worry about. Advance and rewind the film manually. You can use a digital camera as a light meter to set the aperture and shutter speed. I'm thinking of going this route when my MZ-50 finally conks out.
