Your driver disk is made for using only on windows platforms
use the driver update feature in ubuntu to install and update your device drivers
you need access to the internet to do this

follow any of the link below to download the driver and install it on your pc,make sure you follow all the installation procedure www.jetway.com.tw/evisn/download/driver www.fixya.com/...intel_845ge_intelboxd845gerg2lk/intel_845_motherboard_driver www.software112.com/.../intel+845+motherboard+driver www.topshareware.com/...driver...intel-845-mother-board www.nodevice.com/driver/company/INTEL.please rate this post by saying how helpful it is to you also add your comment if it is helpful
Its usually good to specify in as much detail the motherboard specs. First you need the Server edition of the latest or any (stable). Next your boar is not considered a server (ASUS P5M2 series like Asus P5M2-E/4L uses Intel Core 2 Duo chip technology which is officially(according to Intel) for Desktops and notebooks ONLY. However, it supports the 64bit architecture. So you can do the Ubuntu 9.10 Server or Ubuntu 8.04 Server 64bit.
Make sure you have the most up to date drivers and that the unit is installed properly. Has this card ever produced sound? Did it stop working all of a sudden? If so then you can try to roll back the drivers to a previous version. If nothing works then uninstall the device and optain the installation drivers from the manufacturer and attempt to reinstall the device over again.
From what I know, both your motherboard and your hard drive work with Ubuntu. I would try the newest release, 8.04 (Hardy Heron).
Try setting the motherboard into AHCI mode rather than IDE mode (you should be able to change this under hard drive settings in your BIOS)
Also, the problem may be with your optical drive. Try swapping that out.
If you can't solve it from there, if you haven't already, try posting on the ubuntu forums.
Fix for older motherboards like Intel 845GVSR etc.,
HERE IS THE SOLUTION FOR FIXING DISPLAY PROBLEMS.... (This solution works for any Intel Motherboard)
No need to donwload or install any drivers. Vista has everything built in.
Only thing is it needs atleast 128 Mb of Video Memory, but for older motherboards like Inter 845 by default the Video Memory is configured to 64 Mb which is resulting in your problem.
So what you have to do is...
SOLUTION:
Restart your computer > Press DEL Key and Go to BIOS Settings > Advanced > Video Configuration
1. Change "AGP Aperture Size" from 64 Mb to "128 Mb or Higher" 2. Leave "Primary Video Adapter" as "Integrated" 3. Change "Frame Buffer Size" from 1 Mb to "8 Mb"
and then press F10(i.e., Save changes and continue).
Sometimes, for the first time you may see screen not aligned properly, in that case just restart once more and Vista will automatically adjust the alignment for you.
Also, you can change the resolution to your desired one manually as follows...
1. Click "Start Button" 2. Right click on "Computer" 3. Select "Properties" option from the context menu. 4. Scroll down and find "Disply Settings" option and click it. 5. Adjust Resolution Size and Mode.
NOW, ENJOY USING VISTA.....
