There is probably a bad capacitor on the power board, I had the same thing happen to my 42LB1DR after 2 years. T.V. would turn on and white power light would blink, no pictue and no sound. If your'e a diy'er, it is not that hard of a fix. Take all the covers off of the back of the tv(UNPLUGGED!!!), then look at all the capacitors on the power board.
These are the capacitors, look to see if any of them appear to have a bump on the top of them. They are supposed to be flat, you can also tell if one of them has gone bad if there is an oily substance on the metal cover that was removed. If one of them is in question, carefully remove the board, and take it to an electronics store to have them sotter ?sp on a new capacitor. It ended up costing me around $40.00 to have this done. Good luck and if you are not comfortable trying this, than take it to a repair shop, but I was quoted around $450 to take the T.V. in. No Thanks
Get your money back if you can!!! the LG power board issue has been around since the LZ series-its a shame because LG's are nice TV's

Have 32 inch lg lcd tv. Picture goes blank. Still get audio. But picture goes blank and will not come back unless leave it off for half hour. infuriating ecause set is only 45 days old. Ideas?
Ditto on my LG LC7D. Had it a couple weeks and the picture and sound went out, but had power still to the TV. The store replaced the TV.... the new developed the same thing after about 30 days... LG Tech was sent out.... he replaced the "power board" and said he had done the same fix to other LG LCDs. Now after about another 30 days since the last repair, the problem is back. Ugh! I have had it up to HERE!
thanks for trying but had engineers look at it they replaced parts, it took 11 months of toing and froing before they admitted something was wrong so by the time they replaced parts the 1 years gaurentee was up. it still does the same thing though.
I have the same problem with white light on but no picture or sound and no response to remote. My question is when you open it up, exactly how to do tell where the power board is. My repair shop wants over $500 to fix this, outrageous!!!
42LB1DR - Just called LG customer service and got the run around. I purchased in October 2006 so it's out of warranty. Mentioned that SEVERAL people are having the same issue and was told it's probably competitors writing the posts. Oh pulease! I've given up on getting any help from the manufacturer even though I'm not the only one having this problem. So, I've taken the back off the TV and there is some clear oil on the metal covering. I've looked at everything on the power board and don't see any bad capacitors. Any idea what I am looking for? Another post said they were green and there were 4 of them but I don't see any of that color. I"ve looked around the power supply and none of them seem to be bulging.
The vertical lines on my LG are evenly spaced and only visible under certain lighting conditions. Whether it is my HD cable box or my Blue Ray player they are there. Any help would be appreciated.
