Tip & How-To about Universal Kreepy Krauly In-Ground Pool Cleaner

Kreepy stops working

While the cleaner is supposed to be working, but has stopped moving, shake the hose. If the unit begins to work, even for a minute, the problem is usually the Swivel Cone and Bearing Washer.

Another place to look is the Footpad, the very bottom piece on the unit. The pad has raised sections which should have a texture on them. If the sections are smooth, the Footpad is worn and needs to be replaced.

My Zodiac pacer pool cleaner moves in small intervals and then stop, once I pull on the pype it moves and stops again after say 30 seconds?

these units work directly through the flow of water through the pump. they will not work properly if there is too much or too little. the problem is that as the unit picks up debris in the pool, the water flow will change. also, little holes in the hose will affect how it works. as well, if the chemical balance in the pool is wrong, the diaphragm will become rigid and affect performance. if your liner has water underneath it, the vac will pull and seal to the liner causing it to stop. this is a very common problem

MY POOL CLEANER WILL RUN FOR A FEW MINUTES, THEN STOP. SO METIMES IF I SHAKE THE HOSE IT WILL START AGAIN. ANY ANSWERS?

Hi , most pool cleaners run by the force of the sucked up water moving gears inside the cleaner .. if yours is this way, then any blockage in the cleaner or in the hose attached would restrict the flow and keep the cleaner from moving.

The cleaner will run 1-2 minutes then stop. I can shake the hose & it will start again for another minute or 2. Everything looks to be in place and working. Any suggestions would be appreicated.

First, remove and check diaphragm for cuts or rips. If ok, check hoses for leaks. You can do this by holding hoses one at a time above water level while cleaner is running(or supposed to be running). If there is a leak you will hear it sucking in air. Make sure filter is ok. If a cartridge filter, remove cartridge and run without it in. If cleaner works ok without cartridge either acid wash or replace cartridge.

Kreepy Krawley is not working I disconnect the hose & I can see it move the fins but then when I reconnect it does not move. There is enough pressure as the filter was just cleaned

There are a few things for you to check to find out what is causing this issue.

1. Hook the unit up as normal. Then try shaking the hose back and forth. Does the cleaner start working, even if it is only for a moment or two? If so, you need to replace the Swivel Cone and Bearing Washer. The top two pieces on the cleaner, where the hose attaches to the unit.

2. Check for debris in the Flapper area. You can remove the Flapper (wedge shaped piece inside the cleaner) by removing the Baffle Plate and pulling out the Flapper. Check the Flapper for breaks, chips, and inside the cleaner for any kind of debris. I have seen hair ties, dimes, pool tiles and other things inside the cleaner that you could not see by looking down the tubes or just flipping the Flapper back and forth.

3. Check the Footpad for wear. The Footpad is the very bottom part on the cleaner and is dragged across the pool floor. The pad should have raised sections which are textured, like a soft sand paper. If the pad is smooth, then it needs to be replaced because this piece is what gives the cleaner suction on the pool floor.

4. Check for leaks in the hose, the Regulator Valve in the Skimmer.
