There's a "tab" at the top rear of the vacuum that must be depressed while pulling up on the filter cover.
You can then access the filter for easy changing.
With 30 yrs. experience, I have a legitimate store front business and do service by mail at a reasonable cost if interested.
Hope that helps! Mick

I need to find out how to open the cover to change the motor filter on my Electrolux Epic Series 6500 sr canister vacuum.

There is not a replaceable motor filter inside the body of the vacuum. There is an exhaust filter under the cover on top which can be removed by pushing a little tab at the rear of the cover.

How to replace the hepa filter on a riccar vacuum # 8995

Remove the filter cover by releasing the two latches. If it's been a long time since you've removed the cover it may be difficult to get the filter to release. The filter should be changed once per year for the average homeowner

Where is the filter

Dyson put filters in three locations. 1) Remove the canister, there should be a release clip in the front above the handle, this allows the top to tip backwards. 2) On the left side, at the main unit is a round cover with thumb release, this pulls straight out. These are cleanable filters, RINSE ONLY no soap!!
3) Under the canister is a filter, the cover has 3 clips which need to be pried gently to open the cover. This is a hepa filter and cannot be cleaned, it must be replaced.

How do I open the canister to replace my vac filter EF-1?

There should be a cover on the top of the unit that says HEPA filter. There should be a little finger groove there to grab the cover and pull it off. Sometimes you may need a screwdriver or butter knife to get it open. The filter will be under that cover.

Good Luck,
Mark

Replacing the hepa filter

The cover for the HEPA filter is located immediately beneath the clear bin, and is exposed when you remove the bin. Removing the filter cover without breaking something can be a bit of a challenge, but if you look carefully you will see how it fits on, and then, with care, you can lever it off. Then the filter just lifts out. Don't worry if you do break the cover - the cost of a new one is nothing compared with the filter itself. You will need to buy a new adhesive seal too, as the old one will be stuck to the old filter.

My HEPA filter get's blown off of the vacuum when I vacuum. I just got all new filters and a new brush roll. Could something be clogging in the inside?

There should be a cover that closes over the HEPA filter. If the cover is missing, or is there, but does not snap closed, then either snap it closed, or replace the cover.
If something was clogged inside, then the HEPA filter would be less prone to being blown off. But, it sounds like the filter or filter cover is not being correctly installed. The manual is not clear on whether the cover snaps closed.

How do l change the filters please

Hi there SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au assuming your dyson is the one pictured it will have 2 filters.

1st. If you look at the machine from the front there will be a filter cover on the left hand side. It is in a vertical position and is released by a smallish lever just above the cover.
2nd. The post motor filter is found under the clear bin. Simply take the entire cyclone canister off and you will see it sits on a filter cover. With a small flat blade screwdriver gently pry the cover off and access the filter.

NelsonVacuums.com.au carry all the filters for Dyson Vacuum cleaners in stock.

HAPPY VACUUMING! :)
